The Christkindlmarket is Chicago's beloved holiday tradition that sets up in Daley Plaza around the base of the Picasso sculpture every holiday season. Inspired by the 16th-century Christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg, Germany, it has grown into a massive cultural seasonal event.

"The Picasso," one of Chicago's most iconic landmarks, was a gift to the people of Chicago from Pablo Picasso in 1967. It looms over the market booths, looking down at the festivities.

Must-try items include massive soft pretzels, Bratwurst, and Leberkäse (German meatloaf). For dessert, many look for Gebrannte Mandeln (roasted cinnamon sugar almonds) and Lebkuchen (gingerbread).

Käthe Wohlfahrt: This world-famous vendor is a staple at the market, offering intricate glass ornaments, nutcrackers, and traditional German Christmas pyramids.

Admission is free, but Cristkindlmarket ended on Christmas Eve. It's always something to look forward to for next year!
