Toast to the Forgotten

I struggled to recall my childhood, carefully tucked beneath
the torment of abandonment and
the discomfort of aging.

So I journeyed to where the crawdads dwelt
and the cherries once sprung alongside from the moist earth.

Formless, shadowy figures of old I couldn't discern,
beckoned me come and nourish my flesh.

For several long moments, I waited then leaned in.
Nervousness jolted my innards to expect the unexpected.

They offered up the wine.
For clarity's sake or to further cloud the impressions
lingering in my peripheral.
I could not tell.

Down my throat, the Merlot weaved, unfolding its veiled layers.
Peeling back the tattered years of my youth.

It was like swallowing many liquid moonlit dusks.

Memories flooded my senses.

I remember a time.

I remember a place.

I remember a space where my soul roamed free.

I remember a jerked breath of wonder.

I remember my ancestors.

I remember the freshness of them in my thoughts.

I remember the depths of feelings, tingling with warmth
coursing effortlessly through my body.

I remember them as through time stood still.

And I sank into oblivion there in that field of remembrances.

Tears flowed from swollen eyes.

Celebrating them for all they bestowed upon me.

In the post, nftshowroom X alienarthive challenge for January: memories, NFTShowroom has featured all the month's Geometry themed Art minted so far on the NFT Showroom's home page / twitter. Also, Alien Art Hive will be curating participants' blog posts. This challenge was intended for the full month of January. Participants are required to:

Below are my steps I took to create my second design for this theme.

My Creation Process:

For creation of the "feeling of home" scene in this design, I envisioned a mysterious nighttime setting in which a young lady ventures into. THe place is magical as well as mysterious. She's on a journey of discovery about her past; one she can't fully remember or piece together the events are so jumbled.

I also included two lovely fractals I created in the advanced fractal rendering program, Apophysis 7X that resemble spikes. The image was perfect as a veil for the female's face. The background for my design is a Canva free palette for use by its members. I love the two toned-blue and orange brushstrokes that resemble a striking sunset.

Uploading all images into Canva, my design program, I added layers of elements.

The journey to the past, to memories, is often not clear, either because time has passed or because our own mind protects us from many things and sensations that we may feel, some of which may not be pleasant, such as abandonment. But something can awaken those memories, like the scent of a flower, nature that opens minds and hearts and even a glass of wine as mentioned in your poem which by the way is beautiful. Those little details can create a journey into the past, ancestors and relive that life, feelings and much more. Going back home, to that home of the past can be one of the most beautiful things.

The pink tones of your design indicate to me love, tranquility, peace, feelings that flow from the heart, very beautiful. The artwork transmits me a lot of calm and very positive energy. I loved it. Thank you very much and a big hug!

Thank you!!🤗

You are correct @avdesing in that our journey to the past is often not clear. For me, whole swatches of time during early childhood have no clarity. I'm so grateful for your visit. You see through the design and snatched the pieces it contained that foster memories. Colors can also evoke recall.

I admire how you translate the pink tones to feelings of love and tranquility. Your insight is spot on as you detect the elements in my design that foster memory.

Thanks so much for your visit and insight. I appreciate it, your support and that of the Liotes Project. Take care and have a nice rest of your week.

When you create art in whatever way you create it, it reflects who you are. I studied drawing, painting and graphology and within the latter the meaning of colours and much more. You know a lot about a person by their designs. Thanks to you!

Sending you Ecency curation votes.😉

Thanks so much @iamjadeline for your visit and manual curation of my project. I appreciate it and the notification that the Ecency community supports my work. Take care.

Beautiful poem, my friend, very nostalgic. There's something melancholic about the past, about childhood and memories that will never return. Beautiful and tragic.

You know @katriel1. That's so true about the past and childhood. Not many of us can recall earlier childhood memories. I know I can't before elementary school. I often wish I could. Thanks so much for your insight and analysis about memories. I appreciate your engagement and support. Take care and have a lovely rest of your week.

Very beautiful and inspiring, I often find details that I use!

In finding details, I often experience this too @mandragora88. When alone, I'll look up suddenly and capture an image, inanimate object, or words that transport me to another time and place. The connection is there, we just need a jolt to remember.

Thanks so much for stopping by and viewing my "memories" project. I appreciate it. Have a wonderful rest of your week.

Such a lovely poetry to back up your art

There's a lot of deep meanings to this creation

Hi @mrlane. Hope your week has gone smoothly as possible. I appreciate you taking time to stop and view my project design and accompanying poem. I'm pleased you like it and the meaning behind the art. Often, it doesn't take much, such as a fleeting thought, to send us in another direction as back to our past.

Take care and thanks for your support. Have a lovely rest of your week.

I see you also had some thoughts down that memory lane.
I also appreciate you for finding time to write back to me.
Thank you

You're welcome. I'm not as active on Hive as I once was, but I try to engage whenever I can. Have a good weekend and take care.

That's okay
Have a good weekend too
