Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge that can be found in this week's post. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because they get to learn about the game. In this week's challenge, we talk about the conclave arcana set coming out.
Conclave Arcana
I talked about the basics of the set in my post last week here. To summarize, summoners are now named archons, and they also have bloodline abilities. There are also a large number of new abilities. There is also more foil of cards available, with black foils being maxed out cards with multiple benefits. However, I didn't talk much about the pre-sale and the options to get the cards. As usual, the details on the pre-sale can be found here.
Packs
Starter Packs
The first and cheapest pack you can buy is the starter packs. These packs will cost 1,000 DEC or $1 in Credits. Each pack will contain one guaranteed rare card, and all cards can only be common or rare. There will be no epic cards, and I don't think foiled cards can show up either. This will be the cheap option for new or returning players who want some cheap cards to use.
Standard Packs
The next pack that people can buy is the standard packs. These are similar to the packs that we are used to from the earlier sets. Each one of these packs will cost 4,000 DEC or $4 in Credits. You can get legendary and gold foil cards from these packs, and one of the cards is guaranteed to be a rare or better.
Alchemy Packs
The next pack that people can buy is the alchemy packs. These packs are guaranteed to have one gold foil card. Each one of these packs will cost 12,000 DEC or $12 in Credits. It is also possible for the gold foil card to be a black foil card, and legendary potions will double your chance at a gold foil legendary.
Legendary Packs
The next pack that people can buy is the legendary packs. These packs are guaranteed to have one legendary card. Each one of these packs will cost 24,000 DEC or $24 in Credits. Alchemy potions will double your chance at a gold foil legendary.
Presale
The Conclave Arcana Presale begins April 22nd and ends on May 11th. Only standard, alchemy, and legendary packs are available, and starter packs will only be allowed once the general sale starts. You get the following benefits for participating in the presale.
- Receive limited-edition promo-card airdrops (Rare and Legendary)
- Compete on the Presale Leaderboard for exclusive prizes
- Earn entries into the Presale Raffle for a chance to win ultra-rare cards
The leaderboard and raffle prizes are bonus rewards for spending in the pre-sale, but I think the biggest guaranteed benefit is the promo cards. Both of the promo cards look pretty good. For every 40,000 DEC spent, you get one guaranteed Arcane Skinwalker, and for every 400,000 DEC spent, you get one guaranteed Gramel.
Conflicts
There will be new cards released whenever a set milestone on the packs, and similar to Rebellion, you will get cards through Conflicts. Unlike the previous system, it looks like the new Conclave Set is better for Conflicts because Rebellion cards are 50% of the value, and you have to fix/upgrade your wagons for every new conflict.
Conclusion
After looking into more detail about the pre-sale, I still believe my decision will remain unchanged to buy individual cards after the general sale starts. By then, the starter packs will also generate cheap rare and common cards for me to use. I still think the presale is a great way to get good cards if you are willing to open up packs. The additional benefit of being able to use them for Conflicts without having to worry about other costs will make it more worthwhile when you also add in the promo and raffle prizes. Overall, I still think the new Conclave set will change quite a bit with the game because of the new abilities and bloodline abilities. However, I find that buying individual cards is a more sound strategy for me.
What is your plan in regards to the new Conclave set?
