Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge that can be found in this week's post. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because they get to learn about the game. In this week's challenge, we talk Conclave Arcana set.
Conclave Arcana
Alot of things has changed once Conclave Arcana has been released, and I talked about what it included in this post. I won't go into too much detail about the set, but with the changes, Chaos Legion is no longer part of Modern, and the free season of Wild is also over. There is so much going on, that I am not sure where to go, but I plan on going to play in Modern. I don't think the prices are cheap enough for me to buy cards individually right now, so I will opt to buy some starter packs and go with what I have from Rebellion and what I get from the Conclave Arcana pack openings.
I had some credits left over from when I was still buying cards in the past, and decided to buy 20 starter packs. From the posts that I have read, the starter packs are maintaining an expected value around $1 so you aren't losing much by doing so. I still have some credits and DEC on the side, but it isn't much. I do have some HBD set aside in my HBD savings that I plan on using if I need to down the line. My goal is to buy sets every 2 sets so I still have some fire power in Modern without having to buy the Wild pass.
This was what I got from the pack opening, and I am not that impressed by the result. I tried upgrading cards, but the most I could upgrade was a few level 2 cards. The rest, including the summoners, are still at level 1. It should still let me fight matches, but I am not as worried since I do have some Rebellion cards to help me out.
Modern Ranked Fights
This was a fight where I tried to use the new summoner here. I am still a bit confused, because I wasn't sure if I was using the bloodline ability. I wasn't this match, and I was able to see the details further by highlighting the card. I don't have many dwarfs available so I don't know if I can make the most of the bloodline abilities. I do think that some of the summoner abilities such as the one above with void is quite nice though.
Overall, the fights haven't looked as hard with the 4 fights that I have done. I am not losing like crazy, and I did win my first 4 matches. I do find myself relying on those Rebellion cards since they are higher level than my Conclave Arcana cards, though. I still need to learn more about the new set, so if you have any tips, please let me know. I am liking the new abilities on the summoners more, but I don't know if I like the ability that hurts your adjacent allies when it lands a hit.
Conclusion
Alot has changed in modern, but I am feeling a bit better after trying out Modern. I am not losing as much as I thought that I would. I am relying a bit more on the Rebellion cards, and 20 packs only led me so far on Conclave Arcana. I am still in the process of learning more about the new cards and strategies going on, but I do think that its great to see new metas come forward. The new abilities opens up so many different options on lineups in Modern.
How was your experience in the new Modern format with Conclave Arcana?
