Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. 4 star brawls are rough as the teams tend to be stronger. I am still in the gold league gold foil matches and it was decent this time around. I didn't do the best, but the free wins helped me get even with wins and losses this time around.
Brawl Result
I chose the gold foil modern Brawl and got 4 wins. This time, there were 1 free wins because one guild didn't submit a person for my brawl. My rewards for the brawl were 4.190 merits and 58.669 SPS in the 4-star category. My guild ranked 8th place out of the 9 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots, and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. I did great this time around, and my guild did great again this brawl.
Brawl fights
There were 4 that I lost, 1 that I won, and 2 won due to surrender. So, I included an idea of the match below and a few thoughts about it.
You can find the first match here. I lost this match because I messed up. I was losing matches in modern and it skipped my mind that I was in brawl, so I went with a weak lineup that could only be a loss.
You can find the second match here. I lost this match because my opponent had a stronger lineup. I couldn't deal enough damage and that Katrelba in the back just wiped out my lineup while the magic monsters wiped out my tank.
You can find the third match here. I lost this match because my opponent had a stronger lineup. There wasn't much I could do with the level disadvantage and I missed quite a bit against his flying monster.
You can find the fourth match here. I won this match because I had the stronger lineup. I talked more about it in this post, but martyr was such a great ability to help my tanks under the explosive weaponry ruleset.
You can find the fifth match here. I lost this match because my opponent had a stronger lineup. That Gladicus in the back is such a pain to fight against. It just tanked most of my hits, and I couldn't do much against him at all due to the taunt.
Conclusion
Doing 8 fights for 4.190 merits and 58.669 SPS is a good reward for the effort. I didn't do so great as I won only 1 normal fight, and the other 3 wins came from free wins. I guess it pays to submit matches when your opponent might not need to. I did mess up the first fight because my mindset was in the wrong place, and I have to make sure not to do that again in the future.
