Hello wednesday walkers,
A couple of weeks ago I needed to bring my car for his two years general periodic inspection. Ore in Dutch the APK, (algemene periodieke keuring) This can be done at any garage that is affiliated with the national APK inspection service. But I wanted a garage to look at my car a bit more accurate. So I brought my car to a VW camper van specialist. And that was about 30 kilometers from my home.
It suppose to be a nice sunny day and one of the last day's with temperatures below zero in the night. That meant it could be a nice sunrise so I wanted to make a nice walking day out of it. I arrived at the garage at 7 in the morning and at that time it was still minus 5 Celsius. I dropped of my car and I took off walking towards the sunrise.
There was a nature area on my rout that is called the Vijver bos, ore Forest pond, a 22 acres water and forest area near the town of Harmelen. As you can see, the water was frozen solid.
And the moon was still clearly visible.
This gate is always closed and you can only enter this part of the nature reserve during open day's or if you are volunteering to maintain the area.
The path behind this gate looks very interesting to me. I want to walk here some day.
The moon was setting behind the trees that were in front of this orchard. no idea what they are growing here. It could be apples ore pears.
One of the small farms that I came across on route.
Witch had a very cool tree on it's property.
Entering the town of Harmelen.
The sun was almost above the horizon and the sky started a coloring a bit.
The two churches and an old tower in the middle of the field. it is a pigeon loft from around the year 1350. It belong to the estates that were build here in the year 1270. that is not here any more but this castle tower like pigeon loft still remains.
the Sint-Bavochurch from the year 1917.
The walk continued along the water of the river the Oude Rijn. (the old Rhine)
There are many new buildings and houses build next to this river. I am not a big fan of this kind of architecture.
I do like these kind of things, an old lock and lock keeper's house.
Here I crossed the river into another walking path trough the meadows of the surrounding farm lands.
I love these kind of paths trough out the country side.
This was about halfway trough the town of Harmelen. Next week I will show you the rest of this walk. I have mad to much pictures again here.
