there are plenty of dogs in Shiroda, a small town in Mahrashtra, India. they tend to gather in packs where there is constant rivalry and plenty of barking, especially at night. they can be a nuisance but are rarely threatening
the packs tend to be a core of stray dogs and pets that are not kept on a leash that come and go. the pack in these shots from the center of town is unusually large. more often they are about half this size so i guess two smaller packs joined together for a while.
being a stray dog is a tough life, always looking for food, prone to disease and often in fights especially males when a female is in heat. the pet dogs that are allowed to roam freely are likely to contract infectious diseases from the strays
there are always a few dogs somewhere on the beach scavenging for discarded food or just relaxing after a tough night on the prowl
they may follow you on your walk hoping for a handout. though not threatening and can be quite persistent
this dog with a collar found a cracked coconut shell on the beach and is doing its best to loosen the kernel from the shell
i took all these shots with my S22 phone, either in Shiroda town or the beach. they are my property and are not allowed to be used without my permission
