it was a busy day

Yeah, today it was a busy day for me, although actually I did no work for the whole day. But it was busy with the social part of life and the culture here in Bali.

One of my second cousins was married today, and they live about 3 hours away from my hometown. My whole family was invited there to be part of the ceremony and also to witness it. so the commute is already 6 hours in total, and even more as we went back home during the peak hours, and it was jammed everywhere, which adds more time for the commute.

We started the journey early in the morning, around 6.30 am. It was supposed to be around 5.30, with some delay, we finally started an hour later, typical stretch time here. haha, and when we arrived there at my uncle's house, the ceremony had not started yet, and we waited for the groom to arrive for almost two hours.

Around noon, they came and the procession started. It was a talk by the elderly for the handover, and some officials' statements and signing for the ceremony that they will use later on to get the wedding certificate and so on.

here are a few snapshots that I took. :)

It was the place where the talking were done by the elder.

Here are the offerings in one of the shrines in the house for the ceremony.

The procession was finish arround 1.30 p.m, and then we headed back home. I was totally exhausted for the whole trip and the ceremony, since that 3 hours drive is already too much for me, but maybe it is a normal drive for you in the US isn't it?

Interesting to see your wedding customs! I'm not in the U.S but I do drive a lot for work but then still, 6 hours of driving is enough to get a little tired indeed.

they are different from place to place, although for basic they are the same, but there are always a slight diference, and yeah sometimes they can be really interesting to see, and quite expensive as well hahah.

yeah it was a very tiring trip for sure.

Qué interesante conocer las tradiciones de una boda en Bali. Entiendo perfectamente lo del "tiempo elástico"; aquí en Venezuela también solemos empezar un poco más tarde de lo planeado. Se ve que fue un día agotador pero valioso

How interesting to learn about the wedding traditions in Bali. I perfectly understand the "stretch time"; here in Venezuela, we also tend to start a bit later than planned. It looks like it was an exhausting but valuable day!

!LOLZ I thought the stretch timing only happened here in my place. it was a nice day for sure, part of doing the culture here in my place. have a great day ahead my friend
