It is officially summer!~ βοΈπ₯΅ Our city is currently in the thrall of a brutal heatwave... The past three days have consisted of temperatures feeling like 45 degrees Celcius -- that's 113 degrees Fahrenheit!!
So needless to say, we have been trying to find ways to beat the heat. Today, with the heat continuing to blister, we decided to take a trip to the beach! π The last time we went, our youngest daughter had not even been born yet, and our oldest was terrified of the water π But our oldest daughter has actually been asking to go to the beach this time, so we decided to finally take the trip!
This is Lake Ontario π It is one of the five Great Lakes that are located here in Canada. They are vital to the ecosystem, for they contain 1/5 of the entire world's fresh water! Millions of Canadians and Americans depend on these lakes for their way of life.
Fortunately, today we just went there to play π This is our oldest daughter and my husband, standing in the water.
This is our youngest daughter, giving me the stink eye π She really enjoyed playing around in the sand.
Our oldest daughter and I in the water. Looks can be rather deceiving... For how hot the temperature was, the water was still ice cold π₯Ά By the shore, it wasn't so bad, but the further you walked out, the colder it grew. My calves were starting to hurt, that's how cold it was π©
My husband, attempting to bury our youngest in sand π She sat there for about 2 minutes before finally deciding to take off!
We tried building some sand castles as well, although they did not turn out very well... The sand was too dry, and adding water turned it to mud.
My husband took these photos, and it gave me reason to pause... Two sisters standing side by side -- they even look back at the camera at the same time π It really made me reflect on how big they have both grown... I wonder what the future holds for them. I only pray that they will continue to have the loving relationship that they do today.
Frolicking in the water! π We were very happy that the girls took to the water this time. This is one of our cleaner beaches, and we were actually able to find a few small shells π
Of course, husband and I had to get a decent selfie in π I am sad to say that we don't get many pictures together, so I made sure to take one today. It was a great day! π
This is how our youngest looked, after it was all said and done π We are currently still dealing with a house full of sand!
This is the last picture that we took... On the walk home, I managed to spot this lone flower blooming in a field. Absolutely gorgeous! My favorite color is orange so my heart swooned when I saw it π₯°
