The finals of the interschool football championship took place between Susan's school football team and that of her friend Chloe. Susan's school football team was just appearing in the finals of the competition for the first time while Chloe's school team was defending their title.

Everyone had expected Chloe's school football team to easily rollover their opponent, being the defending champions. But they saw a different opposition that day. Susan's school football team played the best football of the tournament. They attacked and defended enmass. The team cohesion was top-notch.

The first half produced no goals as the two teams were evenly matched. Susan was impressed with her school team's performance.

"I love the team spirit in there", she told Chloe.

"If they continue that way they may nick in one goal and then, maybe see off the game that way".

"You should know we are the defending champions", Chloe said. "A champion will always be a champion", she concluded.

As the game was resumed for the second half, the head coach of Susan's school football team made some changes - he introduced and replaced about two players and the game plan changed. The two fresh players reinvigorated his team and they kept piling pressure on Chloe's school football team. Soon one of them scored a goal. The whole stadium erupted in a thunderous noise.

Susan's school football team sat in deep and defended the lone goal for the remaining twenty minutes of the game till the end of the regulation time. And at the sound of the final whistle everyone was already satisfied with the outcome of the game.
