Today I'm bringing you a very special #tbt. This photo was taken in 2020, when we were starting our literary project, Alta Literatura.
That September morning in 2020, we met at Frank David Frías Rondón's house in the heart of Vedado, at 23rd and 12th Streets.
That day, the writers Frank, Kevin Fernández, Leah Garoz (in the photo, with me), Fred Danilo Baltodano, and I met.
I remember that the pandemic was just beginning, and we were at a time of low infection rates in the city. Now I think about it and think about how much we risked ourselves back then.
It's true that we took measures and didn't get infected even once during the pandemic, but it was still a risk.
That day was all about planning (between drinks). At the time of the photo, Leah and I were setting up our group's blog (https://altaliteratura.wordpress.com).
We also planned our medium- and long-term goals. We achieved some, while others changed or evolved into new ones.
Some are still in progress.
The important thing is that that dream has borne fruit. Today, our blog is read throughout much of the Spanish-speaking world. We have created a publishing label, an academy, workshops, and two competitions; one of them, the Berenice, the only one of its kind in Cuba.
In addition, we have participated in three International Book Fairs in Havana, and the name Alta Literatura has become a benchmark in our country.
It's been hard work, of course. But we've also had a lot of fun. That photo day was the first of several in-person meetings. There haven't been many. Maybe two or three a year, but they've been wonderful.
The rest of the meetings have been in our WhatsApp group. We chat there daily and at any time.
The project aims to highlight the best literature written in the Spanish language, especially Cuban and Caribbean literature.
What's special about us?
We are an independent project and owe no one any respect.
We respect everyone's opinion.
Therefore, we do not tolerate censorship.
We strive for quality and the promotion of literature.
Of the founders, only Leah, Frank, and I remain. Others have joined us, but the dream remains the same.
We strive for High Literature.

Hola, amigos de top family.
Hoy les traigo un recuerdo muy importante para mí. Esta foto fue tomada en el año 2020, cuando comezábamos nuestro proyecto literario Alta Literatura.
Aquella mañana de septiembre del 2020 nos reunimos en casa de Frank David Frías Rondón, en su casa del corazón del Vedado, en 23 y 12.
Aquel día nos reunimos los escritores Frank, Kevin Fernández, Leah Garoz (en la foto, conmigo) Fred Danilo Baltodano y yo.
Recuerdo que recién comenzaba la pandemia y estábamos en un momento de poco contagio en la ciudad. Ahora por pienso en es y pienso en lo mucho que nos arriesgábamos en aquel entonces.
Cierto que tomamos medidas y no nos contagiamos ni una vez mientras duró la pandemia, pero igual fue un riesgo.
Aquel día fue de pura planificación (entre trago y trago). En el momento de la foto, Leah y yo configurábamos el blog de nuestro grupo.
También planificamos nuestros objetivos a medianos y largo plazo. Algunos los cumplimos, otros se cambiaron o evolucionaron en otros nuevos.
Algunos están aún en proceso.
Lo importante es que aquel sueño ha dado frutos. Hoy por hoy nuestro blog es leído en gran parte de mundo hispano. Hemos creado un sello editorial, una academia, talleres, dos concursos; donde uno de ellos el Berenice, único de su tipo en Cuba.
Además, hemos participado en tres Ferias Internacionales del Libro en La Habana y el nombre de Alta Literatura se ha vuelto referencia en nuestro país.
Trabajo ha costado, por supuesto. Pero también nos hemos divertido muchísimo. Ese día de la foto fue el primero de varios encuentros presenciales. No han sido muchos. Quizás dos o tres por año, pero han sido maravillosos.
El resto de los encuentros, ha sido en nuestro grupo de WhatsApp. Ahí la charla es a diario y a cualquier hora.
El proyecto tiene como objetivo visibilizar a lo mejor de la literatura escrita en lengua hispana y en especial, la cubana y caribeña.
¿Qué tenemos de especial?
Que somos un proyecto independiente y no le debemos pleitesía a nadie.
Respetamos la opinión de cada cual.
Por tanto, no admitimos la censura.
Buscamos la calidad y el fomento de la literatura.
De los fundadores solo quedamos Leah, Frank y yo. Se nos han sumado otros, pero el sueño sigue siendo el mismo.
Buscamos la Alta Literatura.
