Friendship in the Digital Age: My Journey Through Online Bonds

in Hive Learners13 days ago (edited)

In 2025 we are living in a digital world, nowadays we can connected with people from online and make them our friends, it has become a major part of our social lives. I know for many people face-to-face friendships are more meaningful to them or more real to them, but I personally don't feel the same because I think that online friendships can replace the need for in-person ones. This could be through any social media platform or gaming, it's a place where anyone connect deeply without even meeting someone in real life.

Through my personal experience I will share how I have got friends online and first of all it was from gaming. It was about seven years ago, when I used to play online multiplayer games. In the beginning, I was only playing for fun and to make my English better but as soon time passed I have met a few players who became close friends of mine and they still are. These past seven years we have spent many hours talking to each other and laughing together and teaming up in the game.

Well, four of us are from different countries and different timeline, but it never felt like we are that much far away as if there was no barrier between us. We did about personal struggles to each other and when one of us would feel down the others would cheer up. We shared our future dreams even though in recent time everyone is busy but our friendship is still strong as before. Over these years I realized that my online friends were always there for me when I needed them and understood me better than the people I have met daily in real life.

What makes online friendships special is that it always feels pure and genuine connection all because of the good communication. No one has ever judged because of the appearances or ever felt the social pressures that often exist in face-to-face friendships. I think when people are online they get to know your personality first and not your looks so for that reason the friendship to forms on a deeper emotional level.

For example when we used to play games together, the teamwork already had built the trust naturally. Eventually you will end up knowledge ng how your friends think and find out how they react under pressure. So these things helps us to build a strong bond between us and it's much stronger than the bonds we created with classmates or neighbors.

Of course online friends lack physical presence and they can't come over instantly if you're in trouble and I believe it. But still they are always available for video calls or voice chats so it feels like we are always with them. I remember one time when I was feeling really down for some personal reasons, I didn't want to share with my online friends but they noticed it instantly through my voice and they reached out immediately.

I was feeling trouble to sleep so they stayed on a call with me for hours and tried to cheer me up and tried their best to make me laugh. So that day I found out that friendship doesn’t depend on physical presence it depends on the other person it could be offline and online the emotional connection matters the most.

Another reason why I like online friendship's more is because it allows you to meet people from different cultures. In this way you can learn about many countries you have never been to because they share different experiences. So, I think it will guide you to grow as a person. Through gaming I have met people from many different countries such as Romania, USA, Spain and Germany.

Whoever says online friendships are temporary or fake I wanna say you are totally wrong, there's good and bad everywhere so be mature enough to know that. Anyway, for me real friendship is about respect and understanding. Even though I have not met these online friends physically still our bond has only grown to be stronger. In conclusion, I believe that online friendships can replace the need for face-to-face ones. So yeah my online friends will be always important as anyone I could ever meet in person.

That's the fact. If you have a problem, they can't actually come up to solve it has fast as you need it to be solved. Some may even give excuses

That's right, I can totally understand this fact. Thanks for stopping by.

Games are a good way of making friends my best friend find her husband in online games and move to Rome, and it's also true that in games people can't judge you for your look and you can builds sincere bondings.

That's right but people in real life are more judgemental and they would definitely judge anyone based on the looks they don't even wanna know the person and hate them easily.

Another reason why I like online friendship's more is because it allows you to meet people from different cultures.

I totally agree with you on this.
Having online friends has made me more informed on the cultures of people in other countries. I was able to learn a lot even without having a plane ticket to fly over myself to see and learn.

That's the most fun fact also on Hive I have found few Nigerian friends who are still sharing me their knowledge and it's fun to learn hehe.

Oh cool
I hope I become that friend that contributes to your knowledge also 🤗

Of course why not, I would love to.
