One important thing is to create a balance between our personal and work lives. Some jobs can be so demanding to the point that employees forget they even have a personal life to live.
I can vividly remember the first job I had after finishing high school in an eatery, the job was so demanding that I forget the number of days in a week, I worked every day, and sometimes customers would like to stay in the eatery till midnight and as employees, you can't leave when a customer is still around, that would be rude. Working seven days a week isn't an easy thing to do; back then, I was still a teenager, so it wasn't that chocking because I didn't have a personal life, all I had was work and my family.
Imagine being married with kids, how do I cope with such a job? Now I'm beginning to imagine wild "My husband will just throw me out of the house to live at the eatery."
Sometimes, our work takes precedence over everything else in our lives, and there are moments when we desire success in our profession thereby forgetting our well-being matters too "I know someone like that" People ask themselves questions that they practically know the answers to, and when these questions come, you'd think your life is falling out of place. Everybody wants to have an amazing career and build themselves a well-fulfilled life, but pursuing career goals has often left people in the dark, thereby forgetting their well-being.
What is life with an amazing career? "Great, right?" But then what would life be when you have an amazing career and not a good personal life? "Silence." I know it isn't easy to maintain a career and still have a good personal life. "It can be hard to balance," but then it still doesn't mean "it's impossible". It's very important to create that balance in our lives; imagine succeeding in a career and losing at the other end. "What would it profit you?".
Talking about my current job: I'm gonna call it a little "flexible" though I have a daily routine which sometimes I try to change to suit my well-being and improve my mental health. The only aspect of my job that I can call a constant daily routine is the part of going to the commercial bank to carry out certain financial transactions, aside from this part, every other thing is being carried out by me on my terms.
Anytime I'm at the office, I intend to create a to-do list for the day, I feel like that's the best way I can be able to balance my work life and my personal life, though there are times it doesn't always happen that way because they say "tomorrow isn't promised" you can't always predict the activities of the next day.
I have a job that doesn't require me to work on weekends, so what I do often to create a balance, I'd ensure to finish every office-related task during the five days I work so I don't get to carry any office activities to the house, to hinder me from the things I have planned for myself during the weekend.
Balancing our work and personal life is very important and increases our level of satisfaction in our overall well-being.
