Who would initiate a 13 week unstaking process for $20 in some cryptocurrency? In most cases, they would simply abandon the account.

I am not so sure about that.

Some people go over each other even for a few cents.

The bad marketing of Steemit attracted many selfish and many greedy people.

That is true. As long as such people are a minority, we can aim to have millions of accounts with only few dollars worth HIVE in them.
