Week #191: When Your Passion Turns Into An Obsession

Today is the weekend, and it's an inspiring day to participate in another writing prompt initiated by @galenkp for Week #191.

I choose to answer this Question:

What are you obsessed with and why? Answer and explain one from the present and one from your past. Remember to use your photos.

I became passionate about teaching because I found the work to be so gratifying and soothing when I first started teaching. I invested time in it and made an effort to get better. I began to feel good about my work as I got better and better at giving teaching my all.

I could pour all of my negative emotions, anxieties, rage, happiness, and everyday experiences into my teaching.

Everyone aspiring to success needs to be entirely consumed by their objectives. You won't accomplish much in this competitive world if you're obsessed, regardless of the options available to you.

When I discussed my dreams and aspirations for my life back in high school, people would always criticize and undervalue me. Even worse, I feel undeserving of opportunities because of others, which is why I always back off and do nothing.

There are many obstacles, and people who see my poverty minimize my abilities and skills. They wondered at my parents' lack of wealth and asked how they would pay for me to attend college.

At this point, I became obsessed with pursuing my dream of becoming a teacher.

My parents dedicated their lives to me and gave me all of their love and support so that I could follow my dream in spite of all the negativity and things that people threw at us. They rely entirely on me, and they are always willing to share and give up all of their hard work and sacrifice in order to pay for my education.

I constantly spent the money they gave me, and as a result of this obsession and deep passion, I took all the necessary steps to graduate from college in March of 2016. Actually, I completed my master's degree in June of 2021.

However, I never stopped being obsessed with my passion, and I'm currently studying to get my doctorate. I am now anticipating a promotion, and people are curious about the direction my obsession is taking me.

I will always be indebted to my parents and everyone who supported and believed in me to help me become the person I want to be today and will continue to be for years to come.

When I'm driven to achieve my objectives, I can actually make a difference.

When I discuss obsessions, I mean those that are important to you because they help you achieve your life's goals. Your obsession and your purpose are related, but they are not the same: I was obsessed with chasing my dreams and goals because my purpose was to finish my studies and become a teacher.

The holy grail of obsessions, the purpose serves as the motivation behind one's actions or the reason that something or someone exists at all. It is your obsession's fuel and the great "why" of all whys. It's critical to understand your purpose and determine what it is that you should become fixated on. It's okay to be passionate about what you do or even love your job in order to become sufficiently obsessed to succeed.

Keep in mind that this exercise will serve multiple purposes for you. You can have various obsessions. These questions are meant to assist in identifying constructive obsessions that will lead to a sense of purpose. Worthy obsessions will support your purpose in life. You can go full steam ahead and become fixated on reaching your goals once you can clearly recall why you want to accomplish them.
