We are already in carnival, and here in Margarita Island the week began with much joy and enthusiasm. During this season, many people enjoy holidays and take advantage of these days off to rest, share with family or participate in typical carnival activities. However, for those of us who have work responsibilities, we also let ourselves be infected by the widespread happiness. The vibrant energy of this time of year is hard to ignore, and without a doubt, there is a festive air in every corner.
Speaking of the weather, it was absolutely spectacular. It was a sunny day, one of those that define the tropical character of our beloved Margarita, but at the same time quite cool. A constant and pleasant breeze was running everywhere, making the warmth of the sun feel comfortable and revitalizing. This perfect balance between sun and wind is one of the privileges that those of us who live here have.
Ya estamos en carnaval, y acá en Isla de Margarita la semana comenzó con mucha alegría y entusiasmo. Durante esta temporada, muchas personas disfrutan de días feriados y aprovechan estos días libres para descansar, compartir en familia o participar en actividades típicas de carnaval. Sin embargo, para los que tenemos responsabilidades laborales, también nos dejamos contagiar por la felicidad generalizada. La energía vibrante de esta época es difícil de ignorar, y sin duda, se respira un aire festivo en cada rincón.
Hablando del clima, estuvo absolutamente espectacular. Fue un día soleado, de esos que definen el carácter tropical de nuestra querida Margarita, pero a la vez bastante fresco. Una brisa constante y agradable corría por todas partes, haciendo que el calor del sol se sintiera cómodo y revitalizante. Este equilibrio perfecto entre sol y viento es uno de los privilegios que tenemos los que vivimos aquí.
After fulfilling my responsibilities at the Sunsol chain, where I oversaw some important tasks, I decided to go out with my husband to tour several local markets. The idea came from a recent conversation with my father. He told me that he hadn't enjoyed a chocolate drink called “Riko Malt” in a long time, something that brings back memories and joy. Since he mentioned it to me, I made it a point to seek it out, not only to spoil him, but as a way of thanking him for his effort and discipline in following his doctor's recommendations. He has been very strict in following his diet and medication limits, and I firmly believe that small gestures like this can bring him more joy.
Después de cumplir con mis responsabilidades en la cadena Sunsol, donde supervisé algunas tareas importantes, decidí salir con mi esposo a recorrer varios mercados locales. La idea surgió de una conversación reciente con mi padre. Me comentó que hacía tiempo que no disfrutaba de una bebida achocolatada llamada "Riko Malt", algo que le trae recuerdos y alegría. Desde que me lo mencionó, me propuse buscarla, no solo para consentirlo, sino como una manera de agradecer su esfuerzo y disciplina en seguir las recomendaciones de su médico. Ha cumplido con mucho rigor los límites en su dieta y medicamentos, y creo firmemente que pequeños gestos como este pueden darle más alegría.
Our first destination was the Rio market. Although my initial search was unsuccessful, I did not lose heart. I always try to look at every experience with optimism, and this time, it was no different. As I wandered through the market, I was struck by a beautiful decoration in a coffee shop. It represented the essence of Margarita with very typical details such as palm trees, boats, sand and, of course, a replica of an arepa, a very traditional element. This visual corner reminded me how much I love living here and how details like these enrich our day.
Nuestro primer destino fue el mercado Río. Aunque mi búsqueda inicial fue fallida, no perdí el ánimo. Siempre trato de ver cada experiencia con optimismo, y en esta ocasión, no fue diferente. Mientras recorría el mercado, me llamó la atención una hermosa decoración en una cafetería. Representaba la esencia de Margarita con detalles muy típicos como palmeras, barcos, arena y, por supuesto, una réplica de una arepa, un elemento muy tradicional . Este rincón visual me hizo recordar cuánto amo vivir aquí y cómo detalles como estos enriquecen nuestro dia.
We continued our tour and finally arrived at the Más x Menos supermarket. It was there that my search paid off, I found the famous “Riko Malt”! Seeing the boxes on the shelves filled me with a thrill. I just thought of the look on my dad's face, he would be happy. There were options of big and small boxes, but I opted for the small ones. That way, he could enjoy each serving in a controlled manner, which is ideal for maintaining his health.
Continuamos nuestro recorrido y finalmente llegamos al supermercado Más x Menos. Fue allí donde mi búsqueda rindió frutos. ¡Encontré el famoso "Riko Malt"! Ver las cajas en los estantes me llenó de una emoción. Solo pensaba en la cara que pondría mi padre estaría feliz. Había opciones de cajas grandes y pequeñas, pero opté por las pequeñas. De esa manera, podría disfrutar de cada porción de manera controlada, lo cual es ideal para mantener su salud.
With a satisfied smile, we left the supermarket and headed straight to my father's house. On the way, as always, I stopped to appreciate the scenery.
When we arrived, I couldn't contain my excitement and quickly showed the boxes to my father. His reaction was a mixture of surprise and joy. He kept talking, telling us how his day had been and sharing stories with such enthusiasm that it was contagious.
Con una sonrisa de satisfacción, salimos del supermercado y nos dirigimos directamente a la casa de mi padre. En el trayecto, como siempre, me detuve a apreciar el paisaje.
Al llegar, no pude contener la emoción y rápidamente le mostré las cajas a mi padre. Su reacción fue una mezcla de sorpresa y alegría. No paraba de hablar, contándonos cómo había sido su día y compartiendo historias con tanto entusiasmo que contagia.
