Into the Unknown

It's less than two days away from the end of the Conclave Arcana presale and things have been picking up in terms of sales. It's good to see the community's response to this new set is very positive. But that being said, I'm still pretty clueless (and excited) as to what the shape of the new modern meta would be. And due to spoiler reveals being distributed to various key influencers in Splinterlands, it's really hard to keep track of what's already been released. Thankfully, Bravetofu made a compilation of the complete list in a post a few days ago. You can check it out here.

And of course since I'm aligned more into the life splinter, I first peeked into its lineup of new cards. The bloodline-focused archon for life caters to the Ulunds, which I'm sad that Jared Scarr would not be a part of as he's apparently a vampire. The archon, Bella, gives Shield to all Ulunds which would make these already defensive-type monsters even more tougher.

One thing I noticed is that the tank healer for life, Calabash Sage, is very hard to play given its mana cost of 10. I assume our little Meriput Magician would still be the go-to healer for most matches involving life.

Angelic Race

Another thing I am very excited for Conclave Arcana is the reclassification of older cards based on their bloodlines. My favorite creature type in TCGs is angel, especially in MTG. And I'd like to see Splinterlands' take on these creatures. I know for a fact that Alpha set's Angel of Light is the OG angel. Now I'm wondering if Zyriel and the Pelacors would also be in the same bloodline. There's so much potential for future ideas and even game modes involving monster-specific races if you think about it.

My Modern Strategy
I think one of the best factor that will make CA a successful set is the introduction of the $1 packs. Because of this, the barrier to entry is lower compared to the past set releases. You can already obtain archons and a good monster collection from these packs and I think this would be what I would frequently purchase first. With the common and rare CA cards combined with my Rebellion reward card collection, I might have a decent play experience in the bronze and silver range leagues.

Conclave Arcana is a set to be celebrated by the community and shared with other fans of card games. It's a culmination of Splinterlands' years of effort trying to perfect the uncharted blockchain gaming ecosystem. Can't wait to venture into the unknown new modern.
