Match 29 - Argentina 2-0 Canada
In a repeat of the tournaments opening game Argentina overpowered a brave but lacking Canada in a 2-0 victory.
This time they took the lead mid-way through the first half with a goal from Alvarez, and then cemented the victory with one from Messi early in the second. Alvarez is definitely retiring from international football at the end of this tournament, Messi's future is uncertain. He may want to push on to the next World Cup but, as we've seen in the Euro's with Ronaldo, allowing a marquee player to dictate the end of their career may not be in the best interests of the team.
Canada did have chances in the match and had Shaffelburg or David netted any of the ones which fell to them in the first half then the game may have played out differently. Going into the final game of the tournament, Argentina are yet to concede a goal. Aston Villa will hope Emi Martinez returns for the new season with this form firmly in place.
The teams now move on. Argentina to yet another Copa America final, Canada to the 3rd place play off match.
