Greetings everyone, I hope you have a happy start to the week. It is the first time that I participate in the initiative called by @eugelys every Monday, MUSICAL MONDAY, and I am very happy, because I think it is great that there is another space in Hive to share the music or musical experiences that we They like them, especially for those of us who are not musicians, but we really enjoy that art.
And for today I wanted to share three songs from a band, which I could say is multinational, (French, Swiss and Argentine, since these are the nationalities of its main members), although it fundamentally opts for a genre that is synonymous with Argentina: El Tango, and this is the magnificent GOTAN PROJECT. I met this band thanks to a friend, with whom I went out for a walk every day, and he was the one who introduced me to this wonder, and from the first minute I heard it, I was captured by its unique sound. With that said, now, let's get to my songs from this Musical Monday.

Gotan Project fundamentally makes electronic tango, that is, tango enriched with other sounds and instruments and variations on the harmonic base. This genre in its traditional version includes instruments such as the bandeon, piano, violin, double bass; but Gotan Project maintains part of these instruments, and enriches them with others, such as keyboards, synthesizers, percussion instruments; It also introduces fusions with rhythms such as hip hop, jazz, electronic music, etc., and includes background voice in many of its productions. I clearly remember that the first time I heard this band was in 2005. My friend and I were returning home in his vehicle and he put on a CD of the band. Hearing it really hit me. Seeing my reaction, he kindly took the CD and gave it to me when we got home, and from then on I never got tired of listening to it and looking for other productions by this band. So here I share with you the beautiful “Vuelvo al Sur”, composed and written by Astor Piazzola, perhaps the greatest Argentine bandeonist. Gotan Project covered it, achieving this beauty. Here I share a live presentation. The sound of the bandeon is sublime and I think the lyrics touch our hearts, especially if we have experienced migration in some way, whether leaving or staying.
I continue now with the curious “Mi Confesión”, a song that Gotan Project did in collaboration with the Argentine hip hop trio Koxmoz. This is a love song, in which a man assumes the feeling of real and deep love towards a woman. The fusion of rhythms is charming, the result is great and unique. Today I close my first participation in this wonderful initiative Musical Monday, with a truly particular song, "Rayuela" (Hopscotch), inspired precisely by the novel of the same name, written by the brilliant Argentine writer < b>Julio Cortázar, which for me is the most beautiful love novel I have ever read. I read “Rayuela” the novel for the first time in 1985, and it has been a book that has accompanied me since that moment. In the song presented by Gotan Project you can hear the background voice of Julio Cortázar himself, (of course, they are recordings, because he died in 1984), where he reads the first part of chapter 7 of the novel. Additionally, Gotan Project included a chorus with children's voices, which make a very interesting contrast in this song. The chorus says: One, two, three, four / Earth, heaven / Five, six / Paradise, hell / Seven, eight, nine, ten / You have to know how to move your feet / In hopscotch / Or in life / You can choose a day / By what side / Which side will you jump? . I think I like this song, precisely because of reading that piece of novel, and because the music is wonderful, and because of what the chorus says, well, definitely in life you have to know how to move your feet... to not fall...
