Throwback to a busy day right before Lunar New Year

Hello all, a long overdue post, finally had time to settle down and reorganized the day and to relive it again in words and some photo.

it was 27th January 2025, officially the 2nd last day of our lunar calendar. Was hustling around with multiple tasks to check off on the to do list, preparing to welcome the lunar new year of zodiac sign Snake.

Despite the tight schedule, (eve of the new year, most stores operates half day, so had to do a lot 1 day earlier), but procrastination still took over in the morning, having a lazy breakfast and arranging meetup time with my buddy to pay a visit at one of Singapore's most renowned temple for a quick prayer.

Left house at around noon to join the queue to buy barbequed pork jerky. This item is a wonder, we only want to eat it during lunar new year period despite the marked up price and any other days on the calendar, we hardly even buy it. Available all year round but it is more of a seasonal food item.

Happened to walk past a bank branch with ATM teller machines offering new notes or fit to use notes (Fresh notes in running serial number) with close to no queue (yes, something we do once a year). This reminded me I have not got my hands on any new notes this year. Not for me, but for my mother to distribute her Ang Paos (For that matter, yes, she is distributing but I am the payer) 😅

After a good 20 minutes, got my hands on some fresh notes and 8 Ang Pao packets which comes in handy as I placed the notes in and keeps them in my packet, left home without a bag.

Then an email notification pops up on my phone that nearly kills the day, my professor decided to bring forward his class which falls on the holiday to the evening online 😱

Ring up the buddy to bring forward meeting time by 2 hours, doing so allows me time to complete all task and be back online for his lecture.

Fast forward, we met up at the agreed meeting place 30 minutes after agreed time, was told he was assigned some errands to run at home, well old time pal thus no arguments. But we have to brave the rain to walk over to the temple.

Ticked off the 2nd item on the to do list 30 minutes later, thankful for the past year and praying for a wonderful year ahead to the Goddess of Mercy. The rain did not hold us back

Buddy suggested to visit a famous spot for tea break since we are in the area. Oriental Kopi, I personally have not visited and was told weekend the queue would snake up and just waiting to be usher in would take you an hour or more, since it a weekday and queue are short and I still have the luxury of time, we headed over.

Not too long before we were being brought to our table (I guess the chatting and catching up of stuff) kills the waiting boredom.

I had a cup of Teh (tea with evaporated milk) together with bun with butter and one egg tart since it is highly recommended

All in all, was tasty, tea flavor was just nice, not too sweet, bun with butter and some milk was yummy, I did not pour all the milk, used to less sugar and salt.

The egg in the tart was simply delicious, can taste the richness, now I understand the queue that was being told to me, I do agree it could possibly be so (I have not witness for myself) and if it is, I would have skipped it, not one to join a long Q.

After the meal, we quickly paid our dues and left as I still have to collect my BBQ pork jerky and rush home to "be on time" for class which I managed to log on and be in the meeting 10 minutes before time.

Hope you enjoy a not so summarized summary of a day prepping for Lunar New Year.

Wishing all who have come to this point of the post a wonderful year ahead in whatever we have set out for ourselves.
