RE: Ecency Leaderboard Champions

It's possible that if a FOSS app has a "paid support plan", its devs would be less inclined to make the app easier to use so that users would be more likely to pay for such support. 🤯

The "working on Linux kernel" sounds broad too, with questions such as "what exactly to do" and "how much work to do" for a given amount of funding. 🤯🤓

Sort:

Yes, indeed, for unethical coders that very likely happens. The Linux kernel has an army of coders, both individuals, and people working on behalf of corporations, all focused in different areas. As far as I know, only a few get paid. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

It's quite hard to say if some coders are "unethical" not to make apps as easy to use and useful as possible if they already get paid little to none at all for contributing (useful) code to such FOSS apps. 🤯🤓

Well, then I'd say that they're operating with a poor business model. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I still find "Free and Open-Source Software" and "Business Model" hardly compatible with each other. 🤯😅

And you're perfectly free to hold that perspective, of course. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I saying "hardly compatible" means that there is still some room for compatibility between "something free" and "some business". 🤯😅

Oh good, I'm glad that you left a little wiggle room. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

The terms "free" and "business" remind me of the saying "if you receive something for free, then you are likely the product". 🤯🤓
