In this post, I will share some pictures showing activities and how to catch fish using nets for household needs at the largest dam in Bireuen City. I managed to capture this moment while visiting the largest dam in Bireuen City, the Juli dam, a few days ago. The dam that uses river water to flow into irrigation channels is indeed very large and very profitable for everyone, so many people think about how to utilize this resource properly.
When I first arrived at this dam, I was very curious about the buoys in the middle of the river, and strangely enough, the buoys were made of used gallons which made me think hard at that time, and after I captured the beauty of this dam as a whole, suddenly an old man approached us, it turned out that the reason the old man approached us was to ask us to help him pull his net in the river, at first we all did not understand the intentions and goals of the old man, but after a little explanation we realized, it turned out that the net was for catching fish in the river.And it turned out that the buoys in the river were buoys from the old man's fishing net.
And the rope from the net was tied to the dam pillar, and the old man asked us to hold the rope from the end of the net so that he could pull the net up easily. We, who are social, were happy to help the old man lift the fishing net up.
However, the problem was that we didn't understand at all how to do it, but the old man didn't make it difficult, he just told us to hold the net rope and let him pull it himself, but that made him have to move back and forth from one side to the other.
After exerting all his strength, finally one side of the net was lifted, the next task was to pull the other side so that the entire net would be lifted.
And after all sides of the net are lifted, we can see the fish caught in the net, and the next task is to take them 🐟🤗
However, releasing the fish caught in the net was not easy, because the hard fish scales stuck to the net, making it a bit difficult for the old man to release them, but what was important was experience and the experienced old man looked a bit relaxed when releasing the fish caught in the net.
And luckily the old man managed to catch two fish that were quite large in size, the old man immediately released one fish first, and after releasing the fish the old man immediately walked towards the other fish.
My friend also took the time to help the old man lift and take the fish, until after the fish was successfully lifted, my friend immediately handed it back to the old man so that he could immediately release the fish.
And there are several things that I can realize here, namely how we utilize natural resources properly, because nature will always be there for us, and will depend on us, if we can maintain and care for it, nature will also give the best for us, and vice versa if we damage nature, nature will also have a bad impact on us.
And this is the fish ready to be sold or cooked at home.
And I also had the chance to ask the old man about what he would do with the fish he caught, and the old man made a very touching statement, the fish he managed to catch would be taken home to be eaten with his family because he was a person who lived a mediocre life. And the activity of netting fish in the river had indeed become his daily routine. But did the old man not eat fish if he didn't get any fish in the river? The answer was that he still ate fish, because no one knew where his fortune would come from, sometimes the fish he managed to catch were so many that he could store them in the refrigerator so when he didn't get any fish, the fish supplies he had stored could be cooked again another day, that was the statement made by the old man to me. It was truly extraordinary, and really taught me about how to learn to be grateful and stay enthusiastic in living this tough life.
