My peaceful neighborhood and neighbors

in Hive Naijalast month

Having people in one's life who, despite not being related by blood are ready to go the extra mile is a blessing. I have always been blessed with good people wherever I get to, and I never took them for granted. There are times when one is far away from home, but it will still feel like home due to the love and care one receives from whoever one lives with or lives around. Good neighbors are a blessing because, at times, when you move into an apartment where the neighbors are opposite of what you expected, then, it makes a living in such an area or apartment unbearable.

My first experience of having a neighbor was when I gained admission into a higher institution. I so much appreciate being in my space; I always enjoy my privacy. I can't live in an apartment where there are lots of tenants, taking the hostel, for example, in a student-dominated area; that made me look for an apartment where my privacy will be respected. Where I live, it's just me and the owner of the house which we called the landlord, and one other working-class man who is not always around. The last room was left vacant for some time before my best friend rented the apartment. It's an enclosed house with a gate which means no one can come in at will unless you have a key with you or you call who you are visiting. There are times I will be indoors for weeks, and I won't see other tenants as they would go to work and return at night. The environment is so serene, with no unnecessary noise or fights, and it is so peaceful, which is the most important factor when going for an apartment; if I've heard any history about the apartment that its peace is always disturbed, I wouldn't have gone for it.

My neighborhood generally is peaceful; we all relate as a family, and we respect one another as expected, and that creates a peaceful atmosphere for us all to live in. When it comes to my neighbors, they have been so good for the past four years of my stay in my apartment. My landlord is a wonderful man, and together with his wife, they treat me like their child, making life so easy and comfortable for me. Sometimes, when I remain locked up in my room, once they don't see me for like two days, they are always there to check on my well-being, which I appreciate a lot. Also, my best friend is my next-door neighbor; I call her my go-to store; she makes a living in my apartment so cool; having someone you can talk, joke, and laugh with is medicine on its own because loneliness isn't a good thing. Having her around is always fun; we do virtually everything together, and most especially, I enjoyed her native cooking, okro soup (ila alasepo), to be precise.

Good people are scarce, but I'm glad for the few ones present in my neighborhood; there is another woman we call neighborhood mummy; she is a trader who deals in petty goods such as foodstuff and vegetables needed for daily living. She is so nice, friendly, jovial, and considerate, always ready to help at all times, she is just so simple, and that makes people love her just for who she is. I'll say I enjoy living in my neighborhood as I am surrounded by kind-hearted people who make life fun and peaceful in their little ways.

You're really lucky to be blessed which such neighbors. Most people story concerning their neighbors are totally different, it's more like a cat and rat story.

Lolz, I am indeed blessed

Some neighbors are just too caring. My landlord is also just like this. He can treat us just as if we are relatives.
It's indeed good to have good people around.
