Lyrics and rhythm makes up a good music

Music has been known as a soul-lifter for many years. It has helped in healing processes, helped people out of depression, encouraged them, and helped them stay focused. That's how much music has impacted lives positively.

In response to this week's #afritunes prompt, as good as music can be, it can also hurt listeners. I am a lover of music, and I choose the songs I listen to wisely because I understand that music can influence life either positively or negatively. Music comprises experiences, in-depth knowledge, words of advice, encouragement, and words of correction. This is one reason that makes me want to prefer listening to music to watching movies.

What resonates with me with music?

I love this question. Two things resonate with me with music: you can see me sing a song or move my body in the form of dancing to a song under two conditions.

Firstly, there are the lyrics. You might be wondering why I put the lyrics first. The lyrics of a song pass across a strong message to the listener. Lyrics are words that are sung or spoken in songs. Each lyric follows a rhythm, but you will be wondering why I put it before the rhythm. Even if the rhythm is pleasant to the ears, I do take my time to listen attentively to the lyrics. Once the lyrics did not convey the message I wanted or expected, I turned it off. The essence of listening to music is not just to dance but to pick words that can change one's perspective about life, words that can encourage and shed more light on one's part. The words spoken in songs can act as an antidote and also as a spark, which can cause total destruction. Music shouldn't be about dancing alone; people should be able to retrace their steps when they listen to meaningful songs that will shape their lives for the better.

Secondly is rhythm, oh my! I love songs or music with a good rhythm. Rhythm is the pattern of beats in music; the combination of rhythm in some music is just so wonderful and perfect that rhythm makes one want to move his or her body to dance. I was listening to gospel music the previous night, and I couldn't help but just rise on my feet to dance. Rhythm brings light to the music; it is like the heartbeat of music. Some rhythms are energetic and fast, while others are slow and smooth, depending on the genre of the song. Another reason why I love instrumentals is that the combination of different instruments gives a proper and pleasant rhythm that makes you want to listen to a particular song over and over again.

For me, these two resonate with me in music, and I always look out for them in any music I choose to listen to. Music speaks life to me; that's why I don't joke with the lyrics, especially. Good and reasonable lyrics will always minister positively to the listener.

Thanks for your time, and your comments will be appreciated.
