"Is this how I'm going to continue living till I'm being sent out of my matrimonial home? When am I going to be a mother? It's been five whole years; what will my husband think of me?" this was Rebecca, unknown to her that she was speaking quite loud enough for her husband Matt, who was just returning from work, to hear her.
"Thinker bell, will you take it easy on yourself already? Why are you overthinking it? And who is sending you packing? Are you a baby manufacturer? If not, then relax and let God handle it, okay?" Tim, Rebecca's husband, replied to her as he walked inside.
"What about your favorite bible quote which says, "The joy of the lord is my strength", or is it no longer your strength?", Tim asked his wife sarcastically as he sat beside her on the sofa.
Tim and Rebecca had been married for five years and were still hoping for the fruit of the womb, which is conception. They had been dating since their first year in the university, and many of their friends say that "if they didn't end up together, then they would never believe in love anymore." luckily, they got married, and their love continued to grow stronger but the only problem they had is the inability to conceive which has now become a thorn in their flesh as Tim's mother and relatives began to disturb Rebecca and advising Tim to get a new wife and divorce Rebecca. Because of the love between the couple, Tim never gives in to his mother's taunts, and he loves his wife and encourages her even when she is on the verge of giving up.
"You might be patient and understanding but your family is saying something else. I just want a miracle to happen, I urgently need it", Rebecca replied.
"Mama, you are not alone in this, what if I'm the one with the problem and not you mind you, we've done all the necessary medical tests and they came out clean so why are you stressing yourself so much my cupcake", Tim said with a broad smile while kissing his wife.
"Come on, cheer up. Let's go in; you need to rest. You've cried enough for today, I hate seeing you like this. Now smile for your hubby, take a chill pill, and I will fix something delicious for you to eat", Tim further said as he led his wife to their bedroom.
The trouble continues as Tim's family begins to pester Rebecca more. It's been 8 years and Tim is also losing his patience. He had changed towards Rebecca in that he no longer cares if she is okay or not. He returns home late from work, and sometimes he doesn't come home at all, claiming to be busy at work with meetings and the like. Rebecca kept enduring, wishing and desperately praying for a miracle to happen.
"Welcome, my love, I've been waiting for you; I prepared your favorite; would you like me to set the table?" Rebecca asked her husband Tim when he finally returned from work after being out of home for two days.
"Food, that's everything you always think of, why are you so useless? No, why are you good for nothing? I guess that's the right question. It's been a long eight years, lady; you find it difficult to become a mother; what then is the food for? Just sit and enjoy eating the food while you get big like a water tank. Kindly get out of my sight with respect, ma'am", Tim angrily replied to Rebecca.
Rebecca stood fixed in a point wondering what her husband had become. "What happened to the loving and sweet Tim I know?", she asked herself as she retired to the sofa in the living room after her husband went inside without feeling remorse about all he said to her.
"I'm not giving up, I won't give up, no matter what you say to me, I'm your wife, and I'm going nowhere. The deal was forever together and that's how it's going to be", Rebecca said aloud as she began to cry.
After a few months, Tim returned from work with divorce papers, asking Rebecca to sign and get out of his house.
"Are you just going to throw away all the years we've spent together? I bet you won't do that; this is just a phase; it will pass, and mind you, I'm not leaving this house", Rebecca boldly replied and tore the papers right in front of Time. Without saying a word, Tim walked out on her and drove away, and that was the end of their marriage; since that day, Tim said goodbye to Rebecca, and he never returned.
Rebecca became worried as she was calling his mobile and it wasn't going through. She went to his parents to inquire about his whereabouts, but no one paid attention to her nor gave her the information needed. She became restless and troubled as she was also unable to communicate with him on social media platforms. Gradually, weeks turned into months, and there was no sign of her husband, Tim. After eight months of futile attempts to reach out to her husband, Rebecca met one of Tim's closest friends at a shopping mall, and they exchanged pleasantries while the friend congratulated Rebecca on the success of her husband's traveling to Canada.
Rebecca was shocked but she pretended like everything was fine.
"Oh, thank you so much," she replied with a smile as she exited the mall after paying for what she had bought.
She confronted Tim's family for hurting her so badly, then returned home, packed all her luggage, and moved out of the house to a new apartment to start her life afresh, and that was how she got separated from Tim for life.
