What wonderful photographs you have shared in your post and also your observations complement them very well.
I don't know if in my country there is that species of birds but I do know the plants they feed on. How interesting those ways of getting to the nectar. Nature is perfect. It may be much easier to reach the nectaries of the yellow flower by opening that hole.
