RE: Ebooks or Physical Books

in FreeCompliments14 days ago

I love hardcopy for a great many reasons, and I see no reason for that to change. I did get rid of an awful lot of books when I moved, and I regret that. The biggest drawback, besides the pleasure of turning actual pages and finding little reminders of my past within, I cannot read well on screens. Goodness, I spend so much time on screens, it's a relief to turn all my electronics off at night and hold a real book in my hands. I guess that makes a kind of luddite of me, but there it is.

That's why I like the Kindle—it is more like paper than screen, so it is easy on the eyes. But yeah... I forgot that point, just turning the page can be a pleasure. Huge point to physical books.

I tried a kindle way back when they first came out. I hated it! I had to "turn" pages far more often than with a real book, the light bothered my eyes something awful. The only cool thing was quick access to any book I could think of, but for me payment issues arose right off the bat. I think I read two books, and gave that thing away. It's hardcopy for me.
