In the early days of crypto, I did hear about news/rumors of it being widely used in the black market and other illegal activities. So Russia turning to crypto is an expected outcome with all its sanctions. With all of the positives of crypto, it can't be helped that there will be negatives. Letting tyrants, dictators, and corrupt governments go around sanctions and continue their oppression is one of them.
