I remember reading before that a lot of technological advancements are first seen in the military and space programs. They have/had a lot of budget so they usually develop the latest technology. When the technology becomes cheaper and they deem it safe for the masses, that's when we get it. And it is then that the technology experiences further evolutions. It will be interesting to see how AI and robotics integrate and evolve together with the current technologies.
