Pront: Sin tracción.
Cuando uno está en la ciudad, y está en un automóvil, la mayor preocupación, para uno como conductor, es el evitar el tránsito molesto, buscar llegar de un lado a otro de manera rápida, y la única medida que se toma en cuenta, desde el punto de vista preventivo, es la de tener el tanque lleno de gasolina, y que el líquido refrigerante este a su nivel.
Y cuando el auto, por alguna razón falla y se queda accidentado, uno en la ciudad tiene varias opciones, que van desde el autoservicio, si uno sabe de mecánica, el llamar a un amigo para que lo remolque en dado caso de que no tenga como pagar una grúa, el llamar a una grúa, para trasladar el carro a un talle mecánico, y si uno está, en un lugar, habitado, dejar el carro e intentar resolver después la situación.
Es decir, en una ciudad, o en un lugar habitado, siempre hay una opción, para poder resolver la situación, cuando el auto falla. Sin embargo, si uno está en una zona selvática o en algún lugar aislado, todas esas opciones se reducen a una sola, y es la de la autogestión. Y eso se debe, a que si no se puede resolver el problema, muy probablemente uno deberá subsistir dentro del vehículo, hasta que en algún momento pase una persona que pueda ayudarle, o que lo traslade a un sitio habitado, donde se pueda resolver la situación.
Eso pasa mucho, en el interior del país, más en zonas como La Gran Sabana, en los senderos de los Hatos y en las zonas agrícolas. Por eso, es muy importante en esas zonas, tener un carro en óptimas condiciones, y además de eso, siempre poseer en el vehículo, una buena caja de herramientas, y los repuestos y refacciones, que se dañan más comúnmente, con la intención de poder resolver, cualquier situación que se presente.
Yo recuerdo, que una vez, pasé un gran susto, en camino a la Misión del Tukuko, en la sierra de Perijá, en el Estado Zulia, cuando el carro, perdió la tracción trasera, al caer en un hueco. Cuando me metí en la parte de abajo del carro para revisar, vi que la cruceta, se había roto. Así, que en ese momento, que era cerca de las 5 de la tarde, le pregunté a la hermana qué venía conduciendo, si tenía refacciones y herramientas, y su respuesta, fue un rotundo no.
En ese momento, me senté a pensar, cómo podía resolver la situación, ya que estaba en esa camioneta con dos monjas, y con muchísima comida que iba, para los niños de la misión. Así que me metí de nuevo bajo la camioneta, moví el cardán y este cayó al piso, pero al ver hacia el otro lado, vi el pequeño cardán de la trasmisión delantera.
Así, que amarré el cardán trasero, en una semicurva hecha con una tela, amarrada en las dos puertas traseras, activé los acopladores delanteros, y me fui, a la misión, con la tracción delantera. Ya que había perdido, la tracción trasera en un accidente.

When one is in the city, and is in a car, the biggest concern, for one as a driver, is to avoid annoying traffic, looking to get from one place to another quickly, and the only measure that is taken into account, from the preventive point of view, is to have a full tank of gasoline, and that the coolant is at its level.
And when the car, for some reason fails and is left in an accident, one in the city has several options, ranging from self-service, if one knows about mechanics, to call a friend to tow it in case he does not have how to pay for a tow truck, to call a tow truck, to move the car to a mechanical size, and if one is, in a place, inhabited, leave the car and try to solve the situation later.
That is, in a city, or in an inhabited place, there is always an option, to be able to solve the situation, when the car fails. However, if one is in a jungle area or in some isolated place, all these options are reduced to one, and that is self-management. And that's because, if the problem cannot be solved, most likely one will have to subsist inside the vehicle, until at some point a person passes by who can help, or who moves him to an inhabited place, where the situation can be solved.
This happens a lot, in the interior of the country, more in areas such as the Gran Sabana, on the trails of the Herds and in agricultural areas. Therefore, it is very important in those areas, to have a car in optimal conditions, and in addition to that, always have in the vehicle, a good toolbox, and the spare parts, which are most commonly damaged, with the intention of being able to solve, any situation that arises.
I remember that once, I had a big fright, on the way to the Tukuko Mission, in the Sierra de Perija, in the State of Zulia, when the car lost the rear-wheel drive, falling into a gap. When I got to the bottom of the car to check, I saw that the crosshead had broken. So, at that moment, which was about 5 o'clock in the afternoon, I asked the sister what she was driving, if she had spare parts and tools, and her answer was a resounding no.
At that moment, I sat down to think, how could I solve the situation, since I was in that van with two nuns, and with a lot of food going, for the children of the mission. So I got back under the truck, moved the gimbal and it fell to the floor, but when I looked the other way, I saw the small gimbal of the front transmission.
So, I tied the rear gimbal, in a semi-curve made with a fabric, tied on the two rear doors, activated the front couplers, and left, to the mission, with the front wheel drive. Since I had lost, the rear-wheel drive in an accident.
