I received a comment recently in one of my posts that got me rethinking again about people's perspective about rest vs. money and life goals. It's okay for one to have a life policy , not a problem at all; neither do I have problems with anyone who views rest differently. The author said that she doesn't observe holidays in her life. This conversation didn't end in the chain but extended to Discord, just for her to prove a point. It's totally fine; after all, life is a choice, and we all have different goals and destinations in life.
According to her, observing rest or holiday is unnecessary, especially when you are pursuing a goal that is so important for a life transition. Even on Sundays, she works; weekends are also meant for work. Christmas holidays or summer vacation aren't for her. She went further to say that all those things can wait until she achieves her goal; in fact, they are distractions and a weight that needs to be laid aside. I was worried about this kind of person if she had time to cook and eat food, lol, but she confirmed having someone taking care of chores, including food, for her , and that makes it easier for her to work 24/7 with limited time to sleep within 24 hours.
Again, she mentioned that sacrifice matters, especially when you want to achieve something. To her, she is sacrificing her sleep , pleasure, and rest in order to achieve her goals. This particular lifestyle of no rest or holiday has been active for the past 5 years of her life and is still going because she is yet to achieve her expectations. In her words, she said, Don't call me a Yahoo gal when I finally blow. No one knows how much I suffer in my flesh now but only to gossip about my source of money when the time comes, she added.
You have seen that indeed we are humans with different views about life and activities of life. Personally , I don't think I can live such a lifestyle. I don't joke with my rest and mini vacation or holiday. As a matter of fact, I am comfortably lying down on my bed resting and just relaxing for myself before I decided to write this blog and continue my Sunday rest. Even science told us the importance of rest to the body system, and yeah, I must adhere to it for a healthier life, no matter my life goals.
In my home, I make sure that everyone observes good rest and sleep after Sunday service, except for any day we feel like having a family day out. Every chore ends on Saturday; the ones we couldn't finish will be deferred till Monday. It's a kind of ritual, a day out of seven in a week to experience quality rest after the bustles and hustles of life. It's necessary, but some other person felt it is not if I want to remain focused on my life goals. I won't even end it with Sunday rest but observe my holidays with joy. Life goals never end, one step at a time. I wouldn't even want to experience unnecessary burnout or my body breaking down due to one life goal.
What's your own perspective about rest in the midst of life goals? Are you like me or this author I narrated above? .
Btw, happy #beautifulsunday.
