Hello, I want to share one of my latest drawings in the community that was part of the challenge on X (aka Twitter), where I was drawing OCs of different characters. This OC was given to me by a user who had it as a profile picture and it was their own creation, so I felt a great sense of responsibility and a desire to make it turn out well. I thought about several styles and, after so much thinking and wanting to do it, I ended up with the character in two styles: one flat and very cartoonish, and the other more semi-realistic with more detailed and fine features. The one I'm sharing today is the more cartoonish result. I really like this style for its sharp shapes and thick, straight lines, filled with bright and vivid colors.
Hola, les comparto uno de mis últimos dibujos en la comunidad que perteneció al reto de X (aka Twitter), donde estuve dibujando OC de distintos personajes. Este OC me lo dio un usuario que lo tenía como foto de perfil y fue su propia creación, así que me sentía con mucha responsabilidad y deseos de que quedara bien. Estuve pensando varios estilos y, de tanto pensar y con deseos de hacer, terminé con el personaje en dos estilos: uno plano y muy cartoon, y el otro más semirrealista y con rasgos más detallados y finos. El que les comparto hoy es el resultado más cartoon. Me gusta mucho este estilo por sus formas puntiagudas y líneas gruesas y rectas, lleno de colores alegres y vivos.
As you see, I am using Ibis Paint for my drawing. I always start with a brainstorming session and quick structural sketches that I refine until I settle on this one. My sketches are not for a fixed result, but rather a guide that I can go back to and correct, change over and over as I see fit. Of all the sketches, I ended up with this one, where you see the boy holding his tablet in front.
Como ven, estoy utilizando Ibis Paint para mi dibujo. Comienzo siempre con una lluvia de ideas y bocetos de estructuras rápidas que voy refinando hasta quedarme con este. Mis bocetos no son para un resultado fijo, sino una guía a la que puedo regresar y corregir, cambiar una y otra vez mientras lo vea necesario. Me quedé de todos los bocetos con este, donde se ve al chico sosteniendo su tablet al frente.
So here is my final version of the lineart. As you can see, I added many corrections to the first sketch. There are many things I like about this character, especially his green outfit and blond hair. I am trying to pay maximum attention to every element of the original design.
Así quedó mi versión final del lineart. Como ven, agregué muchas correcciones al primer boceto. Hay muchas cosas que me gustan de este personaje, sobre todo su conjunto de ropa verde y su cabello rubio. Estoy tratando de prestar el máximo detalle a todos los elementos del diseño original.
Well, after the line art it's time to color. This time I will start with the skin, which is the hardest for me because I want to make it very detailed in lights and shadows. I also want to leave the glasses for last, since I want to place them with opacity over the entire drawing. That's how my skin turned out, and I proceeded to continue with the hair and the clothes. I love that all-green design; I think it gives it a lot of personality.
Bueno, después del line art toca colorear. Comenzaré esta vez por la piel, que es lo que más se me dificulta porque quiero hacerla bien detallada en luces y sombras. También quiero dejar para último las gafas, ya que las quiero colocar con opacidad encima de todo el dibujo. Así fue como quedó mi piel y me dispuse a continuar con el cabello y la ropa, que me encanta ese diseño todo verde; creo que le da mucha personalidad.
What do you think of how it's turning out so far? Only details on the eyes, mouth, and the tablet are missing. I really like how the tablet shows his facial expression. I also want to slightly increase the thickness of the external lines and outline it from the background with white lines.
¿Qué crees de cómo va quedando hasta el momento? Solo faltan detalles en los ojos, la boca y el tablet. Me gusta mucho como muestra en el tablet su expresión facial. Además quiero también aumentar un poco el grosor de las líneas externas y delimitarlo del fondo con líneas blancas.
As you can see, for the background I simply used a solid color. I didn't want the background to take away from my character, so this was the best solution I found. I loved drawing this character despite the responsibility I felt toward the original author. Soon I will share the second piece I made in another blog, along with time-lapse videos of the entire drawing process.
Como pueden ver, para el fondo simplemente usé un color sólido. No quería que el fondo le restara protagonismo a mi personaje, así que esta fue la mejor solución que encontré. Amé dibujar este personaje a pesar de la responsabilidad que sentí con el autor original. Pronto les compartiré en otro blog el segundo arte que hice, y los videos time-lapse de todo el proceso de dibujo.
