Continuing with our Baba Story. Let's see today what the Meherabad Retreat looks like and what is living here like.
I like to come here as many times as possible, but I make sure to spend a few days in a year in this place. This time I visited after a very long break of 4 years. It is said that you only happen to come here if Baba calls you. So probably Baba had holded me up to resolve some parts of my life, until I would see him again.
What I like the most about this place is that everyone who comes here is treated equally, there is no difference for rich and poor. The accommodation has different categories but still they give bare minimum facilities. There are 2 types of accommodation here. One is a hostel and another is a retreat, which also is given on sharing basis. For all types of accommodation there are no rooms with attached bathrooms.
Majority of the rooms are on sharing basis at the retreat, there are just couple of rooms with single occupancy. It is entirely the management's call to give you individual room or not. You can always request. I had made a request since I was travelling alone and they accepted my request and allotted me a room with single bed.
There are different sections for males and females accommodation. Even if you come as family, you have to live separately on gender basis.
This is the common area where there is their administration office, dining room and library.
The Do's and Dont's and some other important information are mentioned on the notice board.
That's the library room
Some work of art around the property
The dining room, it is the only place where one can have meals. All meals are laid buffet style and can be had. All meals are vegetarian meals and there are fixed timings in which you need to have your meals. Meals are wholesome with a mix of rice, dal, vegetables, dal, rotis, salad and sweet. You can not even imagine how much they charge for the meals. Per meal charge is 100 Rs, which is like 1.20$, not to brag but it's a very hygienic, organic and good quality sattvic meal. For the price they charge you can say it's as good as free meal.
That's my single bed accommodation, which was very kind of them to give. You will see how simple living this is. There is one cupboard, a single bed and a writing desk. No rooms have air conditioners. If one cannot bear the heat then summer is not the time to visit for them. But trust me there is some magic in this place. You feel so pleasant and comfortable in this space that you do not feel like leaving it. There is a charge for the stay which is again as good as free. It's 300 Rs/- which is not even full 4$ for a 1-night stay. You can stay here as many days as you want.

So that's about the stay at the retreat. You get so grounded in this place. Spending a few days here is like a detox not only for the stomach but also of the mind.
Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸
