These are some close-up portrait-style shots of a Canada Goose in the winter. It is known that these geese will fly south for the colder months, but not all of them; a Canada Goose can withstand the cold better than many birds. There is also an abundance of grass, so they never seem to be short of food.
I find these bird's patterns look amazing in monochrome; they are already black and white with a distinct feather pattern. Their black eyes are highly reflective; it was great to be able to get a little catch light in the eyes to help make these portraits stand out that much more. I think the snowy background really caps it all off, as the goose really stands out that much more against it.
