Today 7k employees of my company have a day off for volunteering work. In our office locations managers organize team work for local communities. Some go out and gather rubbish from forests / beaches, some prepare packets for the needy, some volunteer to teach children a skill. I am a remote worker so it’s up to me how I offer my time.
Since my Dad leads a charity that works with Roma children, my choice was obvious. I served them yesterday - mostly as a driver. By doing so I had a little car accident- while exiting a roundabout covered in snow, the rear of my car wanted to get out ahead of the front... Low velocity and keeping my calm allowed me to avoid spinning and get back in control. I did however hit the curb with my right rear wheel. On the outside all looked good but I felt like the car would not drive exactly straight when it should. So I went today to a service station - good I did, because the rear wheel had gone 0.5° off the axis. It’s not much, but could lead to future problems.
While having my car checked and corrected, I did a long walk in a nearby forest. I hope this allows me to score my first win of the current @poliac season. I’ve had a bad start - three losses, even though there were two weekend days, normally my strengths. However Dad’s birthday and then helping at his charity didn’t generate as many steps as mountains hike would...
So I will need to look for points on working days, but this week it will border the impossible as I’ll be facing @danmaruschak, @bucipuci and @flaxz - the big names in the competition.
