Espero se encuentren súper bien. Nuevamente les traigo una recomendación de K-drama, de uno de los géneros que más me gustan: fantasía. Doom at Your Service o Fatalidad a tu servicio fue estrenado en 2021 con 16 capítulos de aproximadamente una hora cada uno, lo usual en un drama surcoreano.
El título de este drama siempre se me hizo muy chistoso, más que todo por su traducción al español, pero realmente concuerda con la historia. La trama nos cuenta la historia de Tak Dong-kyung, quien siempre ha vivido esforzándose. Perdió a sus padres desde pequeña, pero siempre ha mantenido una actitud fuerte ante las dificultades. Aun con todos sus esfuerzos por vivir una vida tranquila, todo se desmorona cuando descubre que le quedan menos de 100 días de vida por una enfermedad terminal.

I hope you are all doing great. Once again, I bring you a K-drama recommendation, from one of my favorite genres: fantasy. Doom at Your Service was released in 2021 with 16 episodes of approximately one hour each, which is typical for a South Korean drama.
I always found the title of this drama very funny, especially because of its Spanish translation, but it really fits the story. The plot tells the story of Tak Dong-kyung, who has always lived a life of hard work. She lost her parents at a young age, but has always maintained a strong attitude in the face of adversity. Even with all her efforts to live a peaceful life, everything falls apart when she discovers that she has less than 100 days to live due to a terminal illness.
Tan frustrada y desesperada por la injusticia de su destino, desea con todas sus fuerzas que el mundo se acabe, lo que termina llamando o invocando de alguna forma a Myul Mang, cuya traducción literal es “destrucción” o “muerte”. Es una entidad sobrenatural que existe entre los dioses, encargado de traer el caos al mundo y la desaparición de todas las cosas vivas; su propia existencia causa desgracias.
El deseo de Dong-kyung despierta la curiosidad de Myul Mang, tanto que decide proponerle un trato: él cumplirá su deseo antes de que ella muera, pero si rompe el acuerdo, alguien que ella ame morirá en su lugar. A pesar de este posible final, Dong-kyung acepta, con la intención de vivir sus últimos días sin miedo e irse de este mundo sin dolor.
So frustrated and desperate at the injustice of her fate, she wishes with all her might for the world to end, which ends up calling or invoking Myul Mang, whose literal translation is “destruction” or “death.” He is a supernatural entity who exists among the gods, responsible for bringing chaos to the world and the disappearance of all living things; his very existence causes misfortune.
Dong-kyung's desire arouses Myul Mang's curiosity, so much so that he decides to offer her a deal: he will grant her wish before she dies, but if she breaks the agreement, someone she loves will die in her place. Despite this possible outcome, Dong-kyung accepts, intending to live her last days without fear and leave this world without pain.
Lo primero que destaco de la historia es Dong-kyung como personaje. Ella no busca compasión, sino dignidad ante la muerte, vivir sus últimos días de la manera más tranquila y plena posible. Por otro lado, Myul Mang construyó una personalidad fría e indiferente, pero en el fondo, al estar atrapado viviendo eternamente y causando destrucción, anhela sentir algo humano. Su personaje es complejo y profundo.
La química entre ambos es sin duda muy intensa pero melancólica. Podría decir que ambos fueron una especie de “curita” para el otro. Tanto sufrimiento y dolor reprimido en sus personalidades eran su manera de seguir enfrentando al mundo y al destino.
The first thing I would highlight about the story is Dong-kyung as a character. She does not seek compassion, but dignity in the face of death, to live her last days as peacefully and fully as possible. On the other hand, Myul Mang has built a cold and indifferent personality, but deep down, being trapped in eternal life and causing destruction, he longs to feel something human. His character is complex and profound.
The chemistry between the two is undoubtedly very intense but melancholic. I could say that they were both a kind of “band-aid” for each other. All the suffering and repressed pain in their personalities was their way of continuing to face the world and destiny.
En general, aunque me pareció un poco lenta, lo complejo de la trama lo compensa muy bien. Es como si la serie fuera quitando capa por capa hasta llegar justo a ese punto que te hace entender el porqué de todo.

Overall, although I found it a little slow, the complexity of the plot makes up for it very well. It's as if the series peels away layer after layer until it reaches the point where you understand the reason behind everything.
