New Year, New Me

in Hive Learners2 months ago

Reflection is the most important because we get to know which area of our life we need to make an amendment. We always have that part of us we won't want to take over to the new year, and I wasn't without them in the past year. The new year feels like a clean slate for everyone; everybody wants to get over certain things and embrace new beginnings.

Though 2024 came with growth and some old habits, these habits are things I do that so many complain about, and within me I know I should refrain from and change from them. The same way, there are also new lifestyles I am very interested in adopting this year.

THINGS I DROPPED BEHIND

Miscellaneous spending

It's been a part of me to buy things without a budget, and it can be sometimes so intoxicating because it makes a shortage of funds and leads me to investing on wants rather than needs. I'm used to visiting big supermarkets that are of high cost and very expensive, and by the time the month runs to half, I'm done with my salary, which is seriously affecting my savings.

Overstaying on the internet

I am a content creator and also a Hivean, and I spend more than 18 hours online. Aside from my work, I press my phone literally everywhere, which is dragging away from me time I should have figured out my next step.

Trying to save only 14 percent of my income

A habit I classified as a very bad one, which makes chances of purchasing expensive items w very slim and makes it seem much impossible to map out my desires at the end of the year and execute it, so I would be taking it to 35 percent after paying my daily bills like that of utility and other petty bills.

Things I would start doing and be more consistent with in doing would be, firstly:

I would try to invest my time in only profitable businesses. Being so appropriate in making long-lasting decisions, just like this adage goes, “Time can never be seized nor reversed," so I would be more careful in handling my time and ensuring maximum chances of converting every little chance to opportunities.

I would try to be more minimalistic as a lady and approach things with appropriate care and concern. I would try every possibility in my power to be more self-reliant even more than before and also try my best in putting a smile on more people's faces as well.

I would increase my monthly savings to 35 percent. I know this may seem difficult and stressful, but I would face my fears regardless of any circumstances.

Changes I would make this year

I would be changing my wardrobe, selecting some new outfits and robes for the year.

Buying more economical materials instead of expensive ones to save costs, considering cheap but durable products as an exclusive priority.

Include more English dress in my outfit more than ever. This year I would try dressing more corporately because of the nature of my work; I would include more suits and trousers in my purchase list.

you have quite a number of things to drop this year and all of them are very crucial. Especially excessive spending, no matter how much a person earns, if he or she doesn't control his/her spendings, he may never be able to account for his money.

I am also a victim of spending much time on the internet and seriously, I want to quit it this year as well. I pray we achieve our goals at the end of the day.

Those two are old habits that are difficult to break. But I believe with our discipline and determination, we can overcome it this year. I pray and hope we both achieve our goals to changing this old us.

Old indeed, hehehe.. a big amen to that prayer ma

Thanks so much.

nice well thought out post, straightforward and honest
just a quick comment regarding savings. it is important not only to consider how much you can afford to set aside and save but where to save it. for example here on Hive if you have HP the interest rate now is 2.6% but you can increase this by posting regularly and get it somewhere over 7-8 % paid continually in HP. if you save HBD you can earn 15% paid monthly in HBD. if you buy BEE on hive-engine, stake it and delegate it to bee.voter you can earn over 30% paid weekly in HIVE. all rates are annual but the more frequently they are paid out, the better. @susie-saver also has a program for saving that might be of interest, just make sure you understand the details of it. of course you cannot pay your monthly bills with earnings like these but if you can save long term and only convert your earnings to your local currency when you really need it you can earn much more than from a bank. when the price of Hive soars like now the savings are super charged calculated in your local currency but of course when Hive dives the earnings sink accordingly

best wishes for the new year
