Some moments are not mere, some are memories and pieces of our soul captured in time. I have lots of pictures that are dear to my heart, but to pick, I would be picking just few, the one that has me and my girlfriend, locked in a hug, lost in a world of our own and another where we are deep in conversation, as though nothing else exists. And that of my best friend who happens to be my girlfriend elder sister, people often find it hard to believe who exactly I am dating between the two of them. These pictures are not just images, they are a feeling, a chapter in a book only we can read, a journey only we knew how we started, a song only our hearts know the lyrics to.
That day happens to be different, because there was nothing special, we did not do anything out of the blue, but because it was one of those days when love felt tangible. The kind of love that doesn’t need a reason, that doesn't bother, that doesn’t need fancy places or special events to exist. It was just us, our presence and the quiet understanding that we are safe and home to each other.
The hug you see, wasn't just any hug. It was one of those tight, lingering hugs, one that says a thousand words without even a single sound. A hug that felt like safety, like loving, like belonging, the kind of hug that replicate...I’ve got you no matter what. This was a different kind of hug, one that you hold on to, one that you give time to inhale everything in. I closed my eye and after inhaling it all, I opened my eyes and I find myself smiling, not just any smile, it was a different one, one that makes me believe this is right, I love this dude...if peace had a feeling, this would be it.
And then there’s this picture, we are talking, deep in discussion, eyes locked like we were searching for answers in each other’s eyes, we said funny things, pulled each others legs and did more...we converse, we discussed details of ourselves while handing them over with trust, knowing they would be held with care. We talked about our dreams, about our fears, about the things that made us, and the things that almost broke us, we discussed about others, we gossiped about others, we smiled and laughed at silly things and in between, there were those moments of silence where nothing needed to be said, that was the moment when the heart was very loud and wanted to communicate.
Then again, I have that of my best friend, who happens to be girlfriend sister, those two pictures(above and below) speaks volume, it shows beyond friendship, it shows friendship, it shows acceptance, it shows what love and care is. It shows how close we were, how deep we do connect, how I love her and how she in turn cared for me.
These pictures are very important to me, they remind me of the beauty of simple moments, also reminding me that love is not always in grand, special gestures or events but its rooted deeply in the quiet assurance that someone really sees you, sees all of you and still chooses you. It reminds me of the kind of love, where she listens to me, take to corrections, respectful, trustworthy and a lot more, the type that we do hide and seek and play, while I ask her not to touch my food, but she would still go over to eat it, it reminds me how because she did not want to cook would tell me she's not hungry, she would wait for me to finish cooking without lending a helping hand and come over to day she wants to eat, those were indeed great moments, times when she will just randomly holds my hand even in public, even in the hard times, we still yearn for each other.
If a feeling could be framed, it would be this. If I could show the world what love means to me, it would be in those picture. Not just because of the people in it, but because of the warmth it holds, the connection and the unspoken words that only the hearts can hear. And every time I look at those picture, I remember that love, at its core, is simple.
