Bluesky looking a bit different

in Freewriters9 days ago

There was a time when Bluesky was a neat experience. That was probably during the time X was looking like the worst platform to be on for so people. Bluesky was not without faults, but centralization didn't rare its ugly head on the platform like it did on X.

Plenty of people just wanted to leave the moment Elon Musk became involved. The Twitter Experience was tiring to many, they probably didn't even know all the details, they just picked up on the drama, the shouting and odd changes. They just left. Bluesky looked like that little quiet place where they could finally have the freedom to do what they couldn't do on X.

Well that's what it felt like a first, freedom. Small engagement with friendly people. Everyone was cautious with each other, most especially those who jumped from X to the Bluesky platform. They just didn't want to ruin the platform.

But something has changed. You can feel it now, it feels like people are pushing each other out over the littlest things. No real arguments, just the tiniest things. Like you said a word a little off and all of a sudden you're the the problem. It leaves no room for error.

Mark Cuban said it. He said it used to be fun and now it not. He is probably right. There is a kind of mood where everyone is a little tired and more defensive. I expected this to happen because the platform is made of people that are ready to say "Fuck it" when they don't like what's going on.

Even when two people are in almost complete agreement, they have to find that one thing they do not agree on and that becomes the reason to quit talking.

It's weird because Bluesky is supposed to be better. You've got a place where people can share and participate in without the stress of being right. But it has really turned into a place where it seems like everyone must follow one script and if you say the wrong line, you are out. That's kind of the nature of the world so I expected that. Slowly people are having the realization.

Some are even going back to places they said they wouldn't go to anymore. Maybe they'd rather deal with the confusion than the silence from being excluded. Anyways such is life. I wonder if anyone could tell them that Hive is even much better than Bluesky in terms of being a nice community.
