dCity Presidential Candidates - A Small Suggestion

I know that developing focus is aimed at other tasks with both 4th edition and technology make-over at the horizon, but I’m just putting this suggestion out there on the chain.

I’d suggest a small make-over of the Politics system. Just to make it a bit more interesting looking and interactive. Mainly the President Candidates tab.

Presidential candidates should need to write a short slogan for their candidacy. Think Obama’s ”Yes, We Can!” or Trump’s ”Make America Great Again”, or something like that. Just to add flavor to the candidacy. A bit more personality.

Presidents should also choose three tags, highlighting their core issues. These tags should be displayed next to the candidates name on the Presidential Candidates tab, to make it easier voting on policies you agree with.

These tags should match some current Tax setting, some Lobbyist choice, or some presidential option in-game. The tags should be designed to clearly hint at an in-game setting, or direction, that the voters can expect the the new president to move towards.

Example
If I vote on a Candidate running as a Pro-War, Anti-Cultural, Small Government presidential candidate, I’d expect the president to keep funding the War, remove the tax on Art, and lower the Daily Politicians option.

Some of such tags could be:

  1. Pro-War or Pro-Peace (War Tax option)
  2. Tax Increase or Tax Reduction
  3. Green Politics or Business Politics (Eco Tax on/off)
  4. Forced Evolution or Human Rights (Funding Experiments setting)
  5. Pro-Youth or Pro-Elderly (Aging Rate level)

And YES, the names of the tags needs some serious work to be better. I've just included a few as an example.

Of course, these tags are just visual. Just as in real politics, a shady candidate can completely ignore their own politics, if they choose to. Something the votes then might pick up on, and either realize that the changes in politics were necessary, or they might disagree and not vote for the same candidate next time.

This would add an interesting visual aspect to the politics system, and potentially make it easier for new president to get elected if their politics are interesting, by presenting the politics to the votes in a more clear way. It would also make it easier to know what sort of politics you’re voting on, without having to know the candidates history or using the Discord to find out. Discord is great, but the more information that can be found in-game, the better, I believe.

Just my two SIM-cents on the matter.
