Hello everyone!!! 😍🤗 Thanks for stopping by my blog and coming to visit me 😊. I think universal history is a shared treasure that we all human beings have. Studying the legacy of our ancestors is not only fascinating and stimulating, but it helps us to learn about our roots, understand why many conflicts, traditions and current social phenomena. But above all, I firmly believe that learning about history helps us not to repeat the mistakes of the past, or at least try to avoid them.
If there is a place full of history and interesting memories is Havana, specifically I want to take you through the reading of this post, to a museum that I like very much: "The Napoleonic Museum". To incidentally continue participating in the initiative of #octoberinleo day 7: "Tourist site in your city". This museum is located at 1159 San Miguel Street, corner of Ronda, Plaza de la Revolución (Vedado), Havana - Cuba. From the moment you cross its doors, you may be able to take a trip back in time to the France of the Napoleonic era, with all the pomp and sumptuousness of the design and architecture of this society.

Outside the museum there is a beautiful garden with a great variety of plants, which adorn and give life to this magical place. There are even benches to sit and admire the beauty of the landscape and rest.

Something I really liked was this stone staircase, the detail with which it is carved and decorated with curious designs. Even the mold that covers it is an implicit message of the mark of time that does not forgive.

Something that I noticed characterizes the art, culture, design and architecture of the time of Emperor Napoleon is the extreme care in the small details, in the meticulous decoration and excessive adornment and embellishment of everything, whether they were objects of everyday use or purely aesthetic pieces. I think this is a very interesting contrast with the present time, because the Napoleonic era worshiped aesthetics and grandeur over comfort, which in current times takes a reverse interest. Today's architects and designers prioritize comfort and utility, intelligent design over aesthetics, logically without losing sight of it.
So the cultural heritage of the time, with its splendor and colossal designs, manages to honor the greatness of the Napoleonic empire. In this museum you can find both Napoleon's belongings and objects from the historical period in which he lived.

Something that made me fall in love were the ostentatious lamps that adorn the place, which are a clear imitation of the ancient candelabras lit with natural candles. It is a pity that the day I visited the museum there was no electricity and I could not see the lamps lit, but the museum guide assures me that when lit they are dazzling.

One of the things that most captivated me was this collection of military miniatures from the Lucotte-Courtés company of early 20th century France. They are made of an alloy of tin, antimony and oil paint. The most impressive thing is that there is even a mini Napoleon and the main officers and marshals of that army in real life are represented, as well as each of the positions and posts of that army. I thought it was a very curious and well done job.

Also on display are several jackets, a garment widely used in those times, distinguished by its careful design and elegance.

Purely decorative elements are also present, such as paintings and vases, full of history and symbolism, which capture the power and strength of the Napoleonic empire.

I could not help but be enraptured by the magnificence of a stained glass window, typical of this era. The language of sunlight caressing its stained glass speaks of the beauty and delicacy of the design of those years.

The museum also has an outdoor area with bushes and beautifully planted flowers, which add color to the space. Busts and statues are also very common there and elsewhere in the museum.

My favorite is this one, in which the artist manages to simulate the texture and fall of the fabric with excellent virtuosity, carving this beautiful figure in stone.

And just as the stone with which these precious sculptures are made, is a hard and resistant material to time, the figure of Napoleon Bonaparte has remained for centuries in the memory of world history.
I hope you have enjoyed as much as I have this journey into the architecture and design of the Napoleonic period. I invite everyone who can to join this great #octoberinleo initiative, where you will have a new and interesting topic to post every day of the month. A big 🤗 hug to everyone. Thanks for reading me!!!
