Hello Hivers! Blessed Sunday to everyone.
Hmm… today, I don’t really know what to write. If I want to write on my blog it's what I do for today or my previous experiences. I want to be REAL in my post, much better than the day to day happenings of my life. It’s just a typical Sunday—household chores, my husband cooking, and my daughter Aya cleaning her room. Of course, when Aya cleans, I always check to make sure she does it properly. Our eldest is not at home. She's on vacation together with friends. By tomorrow to Friday they don't have class and my daughter too. Freedom from school for her.
I like about my husband, he gives independence to our eldest. Explore and have fun. Filipina moms are strict. Who’s here is strict with their children? My husband told me not too much.
Lunchtime! We’re having a duck, a gift from my mother-in-law. It’s a simple recipe, nothing fancy, but it’s delicious.
After lunch, it’s time to wash the dishes. Here, everything is just a press of a button—there’s a washing machine for clothes, a dishwasher for dishes, and even two types of vacuums: a canister and a robotic one. My daughter, of course, chooses the robotic vacuum. And we named him “Inday”. Just press the button of “Inday” and voilà— the floor is clean. It's so helpful with technology nowadays.
I realize how lucky kids are these days. With the help of machines just press it. Everything is automated, even research—just type on Google, and the answers are there. Before I needed to go to the library and some books were limited. My kids are lucky to have what they have right now.
Today we planned to go hiking but the weather is not good. It’s sunny but windy and cold, it's not good for hiking. It's not perfect weather for us. The wind makes it uncomfortable to stay outside. We don’t want to get sick, so we have no choice but to stay home.
Living far from home, especially in a place with four seasons, is still an adjustment for me. The freezing weather is really not for me. Even when I wear up properly, the cold weather I feel inside my bones, bruuuh. After two years here, I still miss the warm, sunny days of the homeland-Philippines.-
Summer—the season when we can go outside, have fun, and truly enjoy the sun. My husband has asked me hundreds of times if I really want to live here. He said to me, Filipinos are so lucky and blessed to have a beautiful paradise. Beaches, oceans, mountains. He said "So Perfect." And, of course, I always say, "Yes, yes, and yes!" Being with my family is what matters most. We've been in a long distance relationship and I waited until we were a complete family. Who wants to be far from your husband??!!! No one is right. Family should be together. And speaking of snow, I wanted to experience it.
If you live here, you start longing for summer. The tropical paradise we have is so amazing. No words can explain it. Like what we said, it's more fun in the Philippines. We only have three months of summer we can enjoy. If summer comes, most people will go on vacation. Beach trips, sunbathing, everyone just enjoys the bright sunny day.
Now, I find myself reminiscing about my days in the Philippines. The endless warmth, the vibrant culture, the sound of waves crashing on the shore… It’s a feeling I miss deeply.
Someday, when the kids finish university, we're planning to go back to the Philippines. My husband loves the weather in my homeland. Living a simple life and seeing the sun everyday. Looking forward to having a vacation soon, but it's a question of time. Because of my husband's job, sometimes he needs to travel for his work.
I just only reminisce about those days, seeing our old photos and videos making me feel homesick again.
That's all for today. I appreciate your support by reading and commenting on my post. See you again in my next blog. Take care everyone!
