That's one thing with meetups. At first you don't want to over play your hands, but as the event goes on, you eventually get to meet more people, and all that reservations is replaced by the urge to spread out, have fun, laugh and talk with others. It's was like that in the meetup I had in Nigeria in 2017 when I newly joined. Hopefully, more meetups for you in the future.
