Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Tips for Beginners!

in LeoFinance11 months ago

Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game and it takes time to get used to the game. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands.

Splinterlands Basics

Splinterland cards can be split into two types of cards: summoners and monsters. You must place a summoner for each fight and this determines the benefits you will get and monsters are the cards used in the fight.

Above is an example of a summoner. This summoner cost 4 mana (upper left corner) and it gives +1 armor and +1 speed to all the monsters on your side. In the middle, the level of the summoner determines the highest level card you can use with this summoner and this is also affected by the league you are in.

Above is an example of a monster. The cost is 4 mana (upper left corner) and it has the shield ability. This reduces the damage that ranged and melee monsters do on this card. It has 1 attack, 1 speed, 4 armor and 5 health.

Each fight will have a ruleset. These can be benefits or disadvantages and you can build your cards around it.

The ruleset this time is Equalizer. This means that all monsters start off with the same health. There are 24 mana available and I am left with the choice of water or dragon splinter.

An example of a fight is above. I used the summoner above along with the Chaos Rear Guard as my tank. I also have a few other cards that will keep my Chaos Rear guard alive.

Tips

Getting Started

If you are just getting started, I suggest renting cards to start and also renting out the SPS that you need for rewards. This is a far smaller amount of money you need to invest to get started to see if the game is right for you.

Tips for beginners

Another thing to consider is to also take part in tournaments. It helped me a lot when I first played because you can learn about the good cards to use together. There might be a small investment required to enter the tournament but if you enter the smaller ones when you are in the lower leagues, the fee is generally very small. It's a good way to get used to the game and each time you lose, you learn about the best lineups.

Community Welcome

One good thing about splinterlands is the community. There is a discord where a lot of active people are at. So it's the fastest way to get information. There is also Hive where you can blog about your adventures and earn some crypto to re-invest into the game. I highly suggest taking part in the social media challenge or weekly battle challenge as a way to kick start your account or to improve your own deck.

Early Experiences

One good thing to remember is that card levels are important. I suggest improving your summoners first and then the level of your cards afterward. Each card gains stats or abilities as they get leveled up. Other than that, I highly suggest taking part in the weekly challenges. It's a good way to grow your own collection as you can use the earnings from that to improve your own deck. Besides that, remember to always have fun. It all adds up over time so consistency is important. After you get used to the normal game, you can branch out into land or rent out cards as a way to get more crypto.

Conclusion

Splinterlands is the first crypto game that I played and it's been quite important to me. Even if I haven't played as much as I used to in the past, I make sure to play every single day. It's also gotten a bit harder after Rebellion so I hope this post helped you.
