Happy new year Beautiful and amazing ladies of hive, it's another beautiful year to reflect and effect changes to our lives to make the most of another opportunity given. So many things happened the past year and that's one reason why I'm really so grateful for being part of those to say a happy New year. I've set some goals and some are still yet to be set but in all I'm happy for how the year has started so far.

I want to specially appreciate @merit.ahama for the the beautiful topics she chose for this week, it's a great one to get one's thinking cap on because so many things happened but then knowing what lesson we learnt that benefits us as a Ladies is something I never really thought about but now that this topic was suggested, I now realize that there was actually a very good lesson I learned the past year that will not only benefit me but also every lady who reads this.

So without dwelling so much on the introduction, let's get to find out that one knowledge I gained from last year that benefited me as a lady...

About 3 months ago, a friend of mine gave birth to her first child, I normally like calling her my big sister. She was living in another state but since she knew she was going to be due soon, she came over to her parents home to make everything a lot easier for her especially for the fact that it was her first child and also a first experience.

I had planned to go visit her the week after she gave birth so I could help her out in some chores and also assisting her in taking care of her baby but due to some challenges, I couldn't visit earlier. She called me twice to ask me when I'd be coming over but I kept postponing my visit until another week went by. I finally got ready to go visit her and this time I went with my siblings because they were also interested in seeing her and her baby.

When we arrived at her place, we were told she wasn't at home so we decided to settle in since we planned to stay for more than a day. While we were wondering where she must have gone to, I received a call from her mother who told me she was hospitalized.

Immediately I got that news, I felt so cold. Her mother asked me to accompany her so she can take me to go stay with her at the hospital. When we got there, I found her lying so weak on the hospital bed. She kept complaining of headache and she was so restless too. I was worried and I asked her mother about the Baby and I was told she was taken home but she had to go home to bring her back to the hospital. After a lot of up and down movement at the hospital, my friend's condition became serious all of a sudden.

We were worried, we had to call the doctor and he was able to get her to a barely stable condition. The next day she was referred to a federal hospital so she could continue her treatment there. I had to go home with her baby while they travelled to the federal hospital she was referred to. She stayed in the hospital for one whole week before she was discharged and at this time her child was apart from her.

Even when she returned home she could barely hold her child because she was not completely fine. It took her another week before she could start taking care of her child little by little. She later went for other medical check-ups and treatment to make sure she is completely fine. She did went through a lot and we were so scared because it was a miracle she survived.

All of these things happened in the space of approximately 2 months and I was with her all through assisting her and her family. During this time, I learned a lot of things that will help me as a lady. We were told that she suffered from postpartum which happens to women after pregnancy due to overthinking, anxiety and others. One of the major side effects was severe headache. It can also be caused by the pain killer given to women during labor to reduce pain.

I got to find out that my friend was actually given that injection and it was part of what caused her to experience postpartum. Due to the fact that I was with her, I was able to learn of what postpartum is, what causes it, it's symptoms and how to avoid it. I was told that this mostly happens to ladies who gives birth to their first child or children.

I learned that it is good to try to stay as calm as possible during pregnancy and even after to avoid being a victim of postpartum. As a lady who just delivered a baby, it is good to rest very well after. The only way this can be possible is by having people around to assist you during this time. Shouldering all the responsibility of taking care of your child alone at the early months is not a really good decision except you don't have anyone to help out.

For me this is one knowledge that I learned as a lady and I know will help me now and even in the future. I'm really happy to have shared this with us ladies and I hope it helps those expecting mothers among us and even those who will get to that stage someday to be more informed and careful not to experience Postpartum.

Thank you so much for reading up to this point 🤍. This is my response to the first topic of the Ladies of hive weekly topics.

Marketing Blog YouTube Thumbnail_20240103_063705_0000.png

A lesson truly learnt, thank God she scales through it. And very thoughtful of her to have come to her mother's place, who knows what would have happened

Yeah, whenever I think of it and I look at her I just know that God is indeed God, he saved her and that has given me the opportunity to learn something really important.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful contribution sis, I'm glad to have you stop by 🥰.

Thanks

You're welcome 🥰

Indeed, God is merciful towards her.
You are welcome ❤️

🤍

I'm glad your friend is doing well. It was a very intense experience. More of this info should be available to young women, so they can have a better parenthood.

You're right, this kind of information should be shared by those who have them so others can learn from it.

Thank you so much for your contribution Jza 🥰

Thank goodness she survived it, it's really scary to have a mum fall that sick when she has only just given birth. The baby needs all the care she can get as tender as she is.

You're blessed to have learnt such a lesson out of the whole situation.

Yeah, her life is a living testimony of what God can do and will do. To so many it's nothing but those that have the experience can relate better.

I'm really privileged have learned from someone's experience and not mine. Thank you for bringing this topic and helping me share it with all the amazing ladies of hive 🥰

I've heard about about this sickness on movies... Didn't know it's easily attached to pregnant ladies or the one that just gave birth.

Thank you for being with her.

Potential mother 👏👏

Things women go through, the pain killers were supposed to help relieve her from pain but yet has it's side effect

Glad you've learned something new!!!!

Yes, although it wasn't completely the pain killer but then like you said it has it's side effects.

Thank you so much for your beautiful contribution 🥰. And Yes I'm glad I learned such a lesson the past year.

While I'm familiar with this concept from my studies, I have a renewed perspective on the joys and thorns of motherhood. A lot of people especially on the Internet blabber on about what pregnancy is like and even diss some mothers, comparing them to others. What we all must keep in mind is that pregnancy has very different effects on different women. There are ideal practices for a safe delivery, but many times, there's a lot of unpredictability. We should all be ready for whatever comes.

Thanks for this. I hope your friend has recovered fully and is experiencing the joys of motherhood.

Happy new year! 🌻

You're right, every woman might be faced with different predicaments and that's why it's necessary to keep learning from each of them as much as possible so when you are faced with them you will know how to overcome them with ease.

Yes she is fully recovered now 🥰. Thank you so much for your thoughtful contribution !LADY

Keep Up the good work on Hive ♦️

I'm glad to hear that she is okay. I remember my own first pregnancy with my daughter 20 years ago, and the memories are still fresh in my mind. Each mother has her own unique first experience, and that is what makes being a woman and a mother so special. She is blessed to have a friend like you who supports and helps her.

You're right, every woman have their own experiences which makes them the best mothers to their children.

Thank you so much for your kind words 🥰

This is why in my country we have a Community nurse make scheduled home visits following the birth to check on the baby and mother's progress. Prior to birth, the Father is often taught to look for signs and symptoms of postpartum.
Also I believe this should be included in basic First Aid training too.
This is a good experience for you @hopestylist

Wow, that's a really good approach to combat postpartum, I really hope every other countries will imbibe that too.
