HARDWORK DOSENT ALWAYS GUARANTY SUCCESS- LOH300

in Ladies of Hive7 days ago

While growing up i believed one thing with absolute certainty... If you work hard enough, life will always reward you...

It was one of those lessons repeated so often that it became part of who I was... Teachers said it. Parents said it. Older people said it. Every motivational speech seemed to circle back to the same idea.
Work hard.
Stay honest.
Do the right thing.
Success will come.
Simple.

Or so I thought.

As a child, it made perfect sense. School worked that way because the students who studied usually got better grades.

The athletes who trained harder usually improved... Somehow Effort and results seemed connected by an invisible rope.

Then I became an adult and I discovered that life doesn't always follow that formula.

I have met hardworking people who struggle every day just to survive... Men who leave their homes before sunrise and return long after sunset.. only for them to discover that another month has passed and they're still trying to catch up.

I've seen honest people lose opportunities to people who were simply better connected and I've watched talented people remain unnoticed while less talented people found themselves in the right place at the right time.

And for a while, that realization frustrated me...
It felt unfair.
I wanted the world to operate like the stories I was told growing up.
I wanted effort to guarantee success.
I wanted good decisions to always lead to good outcomes....
I wanted life to make sense but the older I got, the more I realized that hard work is important, yet it is not the entire equation.

Opportunity matters.
Timing matters.
Relationships matter.
Luck matters more than most people are comfortable admitting but that doesn't mean hard work is useless... Far from it.
What I eventually learned is that hard work is often the ticket that gets you into the stadium. What happens afterward depends on many other factors.

The mistake I made as a younger man was believing that effort alone controlled the outcome.

The truth is that effort only controls my contribution and strangely enough, accepting that made me more peaceful because It stopped me from measuring my worth solely by my results and It helped me understand that a delayed outcome doesn't always mean a failed effort.

Sometimes you're building something you cannot yet see....
Sometimes the opportunity arrives years after the preparation whilst Sometimes the lesson is more valuable than the reward And sometimes, despite doing everything right, things simply don't go your way.

That's life.

Today I still believe in hard work because just as always I still wake up every day trying to improve myself, build my future, support my family and chase my goals but I no longer believe hard work automatically guarantees success..

What I believe now is something slightly different...
Hard work gives you a chance...
A chance to recognize opportunities when they appear....
A chance to stay prepared when luck finally visits...
A chance to become the person capable of handling success when it arrives and Looking back, I don't blame the little boy who believed hard work always pays off.
He needed that belief... But the man I've become knows something he didn't and its that Life isn't a vending machine where effort goes in and success comes out because sometimes life is a long road with unexpected turns and the real victory is having the courage to keep walking anyway

You stated it rightly that although it can increase the chances, hard work does not guarantee success. External circumstances can impact how things go. And sometimes, our efforts can be in the wrong direction. Hurray to the lil boy who has grown up to understand that life is full of twists and turns, and it is okay :)

Then replace some of that 'Hard work chance' into 'Work smarter opportunity", I tried the Hard route too long and opportunity finally came. Recognize it and don't let it pass.
Live Blessed @henryjnrr

I wish they would teach children that it is hard work along with smart work. You are right, there are so many people who work so hard and yet cannot achieve anything in life, because they are only working hard and not smart. And luck plays a big role, which no one says.
