As a non-social person, are you comfortable with it? Is there any way it has affected your relationship with others?
My growing up was from home to school and school back home till I finished secondary school. Do u think, it changed when I was admitted into the University? No
I did that too from lecture classes to my hostel till I graduated. I was not given the chance to enjoy my days to that extent, so it has eaten deep inside me to not be social.
Being a non-social person does not mean that I cannot participate in activities that concern me and still maintain a fulfilling social life. I'm an indoor type right my days as a child, we were raised to set boundaries and prioritize good relationships. Right now I don't know to socialize with people. Boundaries have been set from day one.
As a non-social person, I can keep up with my activities and maintain my social life by finding a balance that works for me. I'm being selective about the social events and activities I participate in and engage myself in activities that I enjoy. This is a result of my upbringing, we were never allowed to have friends, especially the opposite gender. This affected me, I hardly make friends even now.
Some think it is pride, some believe I am rude among others.
What happens now?
Would you call yourself a social person or not? As a social person, how are you able to keep up with your activities and maintain your social life?
Am I still a non-social being? Yes but not as deep as before👌 trying to come out of my Shell, life has taught me so many lessons. So, therefore, being social could be the best base on your priorities.
All work and no play makes me a dullard🤣
Once in a while, we need to go beyond our limits to source happiness.
To keep up with activities and still maintain my social. The following points keep me going.👇👇
Value: I engaged in events that are most important to me and that align with my goals and morals. This helps to plan my schedule and ensures that I have time for both my activities and social life. My goals and values should not be compromised. Set boundaries for respect and values.
Communication: I make sure to communicate openly with friends and families on my list about my schedule and commitments. This allows me to make time for socializing and spending time with my loved ones. I also make sure to communicate my boundaries and preferences with friends and loved ones so that they understand my needs and respect my choices. It is important 👌
Planning: I try to stay organized and plan. I use a notepad to keep track of my activities which helps me to stay on top of deadlines and commitments. Planning also allows me to schedule social events that will be suitable for me and make time for friends and family. What is worth doing at all is worth doing well. Don't mix business for pleasure 👌
Healthy living: My health is paramount to me. I have to stay energized in things that will help me physically, mentally, and emotionally. This allows me to balance my activities and social life more effectively. Going for time to time relaxation, exercise, fun or things that I enjoy can help in maintaining healthy work-life activities.
Quality relationship: In balancing my social and work life, I need to focus on building good and meaningful relationships that will not drain my mental health. Keeping up with a large circle of friends or trying to please everyone forgetting about myself will not help my social and work-life balance. *It is fulfilling when you have good friends around you.
To be social is not bad but being able to balance work and social life should be our utmost priority.
