Best birthday gift to a minimalist

in The MINIMALIST11 months ago

My baby girl has not observed any birthday party ever since we gave birth to her. It has been low-key key like sharing biscuits and sweets etc that month is somehow rich for myself and my husband. February 21st to be precise.

Every February of every year seems like a bit tight for me and that month is my daughter's birthday. Three years ago, I forced and squeezed money out to make her happy on her birthday but two years later, it wasn't so.

Last year, she came back from school because I dressed her just for her and that's the custom for every celebrant in her school. She came back telling me that her classmates were making jest of her because she had no goodies to share with them. I felt bad at first but I later cheered her up not to worry that this year would be different.

Now, this is another birthday on the way, the birthday is in two days (Wednesday to be precise) and I have been thinking of a way out. History wants to repeat itself this year but what should I do? Things are too expensive in the market, cake is fucking too high, and lots of goodies.

I called her to tell me what she wanted, she said cake, goodies for her classmates and a big dull so that she could start learning how to plait her hair. I thought and thought about it and kept on soliloquizing about what to do. Then I called her again to make her understand why her demands could not be possible due to the situation of things.

She said, mummy, don't worry. I will take anything you bought for me with joy and happiness, this reasoning melted my heart so much and I felt the joy of having a minimalist as a child. Which means I don't have to rub a bank before I can do her wish.

I asked about her classmates who used to make jest of her for not bringing anything on her birthday, she said Mummy don't worry about them. I won't even answer anyone who does that, I will ignore it and pretend as if it's not painful. Hmmm! My baby is so understanding.

For this reason, I planned to give her a surprise on her day with two beautiful dresses she was not aware of.

The beautiful dress I got for her

I also got her exercise books to share with her classmates because I don't want them to ruin my baby's day again.

I pray for her a better year next year when she will be TEN years old, double digits. I want her to experience her birthday in a new dimension which she hasn't experienced before.

This is my response to this week's writing contest👇👇👇👇👇👇

What do you think is the best birthday gift to give a minimalist? Do you have a personal experience that enforces this choice?

To my principle, whatever is given to you as a gift, appreciate and value it so that you can get better ones.

All images used are mine.

Thank you for reading through my blog today, do come around next time. Until then, I heart you big💋
