Hello, hivers. Here's another blog from my recent trip to Siargao. I'm truly overwhelmed by the response to my recent blog post with well wishes from the community. So let's jump into this.
So, we can all agree that social media is one of the factors that drives us to visit places based on their so-called reviews. Before I traveled to Siargao, all of the videos on my FYP on Tiktok were about Siargao and places to visit and dine, and all of the reviews were 9/10, 8/10, or 101/10, so as a viewer, I'm intrigued and would like to try.
The first stop is Kurvada Carenderia, which is always packed and appears that everyone enjoyed the food; most of the people who dined were foreign tourists, so I was very excited to try it. I was also very tired, and all I wanted to do was secure our table so Jenny could secure my food. I sat down, ready to grab and eat the cuisine so I could share my thoughts with other people. I chose the curry since one of my friends ordered it and it looked appealing; but, when Jenny returned and we began eating, I tasted nothing, so I can compare it to my own curry dish. Some of my friends on the friends didn't like it too. I don't know if it was out taste buds but if I'm going to rate it it's 4/10.
One of the places I'd want to visit is Andi and Philmar's Happy Islander Cafe. People praised the establishment, particularly when it was served by the owners. They claim the coffee and food are fantastic, and the food is well worth the price. So, on the third day, we embarked on another motorcycle tour. Well, I wanted to truly experience it, so I invited my friends over, and I was also starving for food and coffee.
I ordered Cacao Maca and Egg Sando, waited for it to be served, and as a customer, I would have expected a warm welcome and a decent greeting from the staff, but we only said hello and good morning and received no response. In this industry, it is critical that the staff have the right attitude toward both local and foreign customers. We were the only ones there, although there were at least 5 employees no one bothered to say anything. I paid 470 PHP in total, but what I noticed was that the drink was similar to a chocolate drink we named Milo, and I didn't taste the cacao at all, and the sandwich had no taste. So, in total, Kurvada and Happy Islander gets the same ratings of 4/10.
So that's all I can say; not everything on social media is accurate and truthful unless you check it for yourself, so for me, this is an overhyped review from other vloggers, which is often unacceptable.
