This was an okay-ish read for me, a 3-star because I did actually kinda enjoy some parts but the end is what pissed me off because it felt a little too much like a rollercoaster crashing straight down with a very abrupt sort of end. Idk if it’s because I read another book with similar themes (won’t mention names to avoid spoilers) quite close to reading this but while that book had been done so well that this one felt quite meh in comparison. I didn’t like the characters for starters. The MC wanting to end stuff but like giving off confused signals, the boyfriend’s parents as well like there wasn’t any character that I vibed with which is a huge factor in me liking/disliking books. Also, I don’t like how at the end it’s one thing after the other with the girlfriend turning into boyfriend turning into creepy guy turning into the mc like it’s such a confusing mesh that could have been written better but it was like the author had this grand reveal idea in his head but had trouble executing it in a way that suited the book. Personally, 3/4th of the book felt like it were one book and the last fourth was more or less a mumble jumble. Granted, I listened to the audiobook and perhaps I may have appreciated the book better if I’d read it and so this was just my experience with the book. Honestly I have no further thoughts. It was a 5 hour audiobook that I kinda finished off in 2 hours listening in 3x and currently I feel like I’ve been generous with my stars and perhaps a 2 would have sufficed?
